@Martin1962 this is almost word-for-word my story from last year on Bramble, my 58-footer moored near Wareham.

Hey @ExBrickie31 — just to add a practical angle here, I've been running a 200W and a 150W in series on an EPever Tracer for about eight months now and honestly the real-world hit has been less...

Great points from @PikeWalker and @Wez1993 already. One thing worth adding — even if your controller does have temperature compensation built in, those cheap units often have the sensor sitting...

StuThompson | 1,204 posts Worth adding something nobody's mentioned yet — the 48v system gives you much more flexibility when it comes to expanding your battery bank later.

Shaun1970 | 📍 Derbyshire | ⚡ Posts: 312 @BoxerProject I've been running a mixed array on my workshop for nearly three years — 2x 250W panels paired with a stray 180W I picked up secondhand.

HiluxConvert | Posts: 312 | Array Had almost the identical situation in my static last February. Woke up at 6am, Victron Cerbo showing a big fat nothing from the battery bank — Fogstar had tripped...

Hey @DailyBuild — one thing worth adding to what @DontPanic and @GazBrown72 have mentioned: the Fogstar Drift has its own low-temp charge protection built in at the BMS level, so even if the Orion...

Hey @BarryBennett, worth having a look at the input voltage threshold settings on the DCC50S — by default it won't kick in until it sees something like 13.2V on the starter battery, which on a...

Ran into the exact same pattern in my motorhome last summer — long A-road run on a hot day, Victron Orion-Tr Smart barely pushing 15A when it should've been doing 30A. Turned out the problem was...

Set the input current limit to 13A not 16A unless you fancy tripping the marina pedestal every time the kettle and charger kick in simultaneously — ask me how I know 🚐💥

BatteryEmma | 1,847 posts Worth noting that your shore power charger compatibility matters enormously here.

@Ollie1991 here's what's actually happening under the hood: LiFePO4 internal resistance climbs significantly as temperature drops, which means the BMS reads voltage sag under load and interprets...

@RustySpanner the mixed chemistry setup is going to give your Cerbo a headache — AGM and LiFePO4 have completely different voltage curves so any SoC reading from the Cerbo's voltage-based...

After two seasons running a basic split charge relay on the van I finally caved and bought a Victron Battery Isolator Manager (the 90A version) to keep my 200Ah leisure battery topped up from the...

Great build @CotswoldExplorer! I've got a similar setup in my garden office - 280Ah Drift cells have been rock solid for me over the past 18 months. One thing worth mentioning that nobody's...

@ROW_OffGrid yeah that tracks — LiFePO4 starts losing usable capacity noticeably once you're below about 10°C, and at 4°C you're realistically looking at 85-90% of rated capacity anyway.

Compo55 | 847 posts | 🏕️ Off-Grid Narrowboat @CraigLamb worth mentioning that AGMs have a notoriously flat discharge curve compared to flooded lead-acid, which makes voltage-based SOC even less...

Good to see this topic come up — I've been mulling over exactly the same thing for my garden office build. @BayFrank that's reassuring to hear about the two-year run.

Great stuff @FinnThomas, exciting project! One thing nobody's mentioned yet — at that latitude (roughly 57°N), your worst-case solar resource in December/January drops to roughly 0.5–1 peak sun...
