WattJane | 847 posts | ⚡ Verified Contributor @GE_Solar Congrats on getting the shell up — Loch Tay is a cracking spot! One thing people consistently underestimate for Scottish cabins is the depth...

Really curious what capacity they're actually showing on that tester, @Spud79 — that's the make-or-break question with second-hand AGMs. I picked up a couple of used batteries for my boat last...

SussexWanderer | 1,203 posts @GaryLewis87 I've been running almost exactly this setup for about two years now — 100Ah AGM leisure battery dedicated purely to keeping my router, NAS, and a small...

PanelSteve | 847 posts Not a van man myself — I live on a narrowboat, so my Fogstar Drifts are bobbing about on the cut rather than rattling down the A14 — but the principle's identical.

@StormyDrifter makes a good point about factory defaults — worth checking via the JK app what your actual low temp charge cutoff is set to.

Been a strange few weeks here. Running a 400W panel setup (2x 200W Victron in series) into a SmartSolar 100/30, feeding a 200Ah lithium.

@SprinterProject makes a good point about the input current limit — that's probably your best first line of defence here.

Compo89 | Posts: 412 @TrevorHughes I'm running something similar - boat plus a static cabin - and the thing that kept me sane was accepting they're fundamentally different beasts rather than...

@MarshSoul check your overcurrent delay setting in the JBD app — mine was factory-set to basically zero, so any inrush spike (inverter, fridge compressor kicking on, etc.) was enough to spook it...

Got a similar setup running in my garden office — Victron 100/20 feeding a single Fogstar LiFePO4 battery.

Jumping in here as someone who made exactly this transition last spring. @MistyTinker and @Curly are spot on about cabling, but what caught me off guard was the BMS communication side when I...

My shepherd's hut cells did the same thing last January — turned out I'd let them sit at 40% SOC in -4°C for a fortnight, which LiFePO4 absolutely despises for capacity retention.
Great timing on this thread — I made the switch last spring on my 60ft trad and haven't looked back.

GlenDoug | 512 posts Worth being precise here — "refusing to bulk charge" and "sitting in float at 60% SOC" aren't necessarily the same fault. If it's genuinely skipping bulk...

Great thread this. @ExTrucker73 one thing worth flagging that nobody's mentioned yet — moisture and corrosion protection is your biggest concern moving from motorhome to marine use.

Reply by Deano13: @BayJason 3kW should be workable for a Leaf depending on your daily mileage. The key thing to remember is you're not charging directly from panels — you're cycling through the...

Great thread, this caught my eye as I went through something very similar last spring. @MarshSoul one thing nobody's mentioned yet — check your BMS firmware version using the Xiaoxiang app (the...

Got a bit of an odd one here. I'm running a 400W solar array on the static caravan with a pair of Fogstar 100Ah LiFePO4s (so 200Ah usable) and a Victron MultiPlus-II 24/3000.

Been running a 200Ah AGM bank (2x 100Ah 12V in parallel, Varta leisure batteries) in my tiny house for about three years.
