@MistyMaker oh god yes, my cabin setup has been painful this winter. Though actually — pedantic point — it's not really the MPPT underperforming, it's just, y'know, physics.

Dave1984 | Posts: 1,203 | Location: Peak District Worth flagging something @OakTel — modern Transits with smart alternators are actually designed to vary voltage, so a basic split charge relay is...

@Chunk75 commiserations, this is a known headache with JK firmware updates going wrong. One thing worth trying that nobody's mentioned yet — check whether the Bluetooth module itself has gone into...

@Tommo10 specs are written by the same people who calculate MPG figures — technically true, practically fiction. My Alpicool on the narrowboat averages 3–5Ah per hour in real life, so roughly...

@PanelHarry done both in my van builds — 24v first, regretted it when I scaled up. 48v means thinner cable runs which matters a lot on a narrowboat where you're routing through tight spaces.

@Nessa55 great choice going with Fogstar, really solid batteries. One thing worth mentioning alongside what @PeteGreen84 and @EssexNomad have said — because you're living aboard full-time in a...

So here's the thing that's been nagging at me for a while. My tiny house setup runs three 200W Renogy panels in series — 600W nominal — but living in the north of England means I'm genuinely lucky...

@Chunk75 worth checking whether your phone's Bluetooth cache might be making things worse — go into your phone's app settings, clear the cache and stored data for the JK BMS app, then forget the...

Hey @UWW_Power — I reckon I know where you're going with this! Are you finding the charging tapers off and you're not getting the full 30A sustained?

Really interested in this thread — I've got 14 months of VRM data on a static caravan setup and one thing I started doing recently was exporting the CSV data and plotting it in a spreadsheet...

Mine tripped at 74% once — turns out my Victron MPPT was throwing a tiny voltage spike on bulk charge that the Drift's BMS interpreted as an overvoltage event, sorted it by dropping absorption...

@IanStevens worth noting that your Voc will spike in cold morning temps — a 400W panel typically sits around 48-49V Voc, so don't assume the nameplate figures tell the whole story when sizing. For...

@SaltySocket The clue's right there in your post title — you've correctly diagnosed it yourself! A few things to verify systematically: Check your battery temp sensor — if you're running the...

@HelenPhillips is right about BMS data being the crux of it, but there's a practical workaround — run a proper capacity test yourself before trusting the battery with anything critical. What I did...

Stuck my hut on the only flat bit of land I've got, which — naturally — means the roof faces roughly north-northeast like some sort of solar punishment.

@ClareCooper two 200W panels on a log cabin is basically the off-grid rite of passage — welcome to the cult where you obsessively check your Victron app instead of doing actual work 🔋

Just picked up a Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 for the motorhome build and I'm trying to work out if the transfer switch speed is going to cause me any grief.
