IvyDai | 203 posts | 🚤 Liveaboard @OffGridJulie Been there! The Cerbo expects a specific resistance range for tank sensors — typically 0-180 ohms or 10-180 ohms depending on your configuration in...

@WingAndPrayer88 honestly for a 12x10 garden office you're probably in the right ballpark with that setup.

@QIH_Electric even if you swapped to a Multiplus-II 10kVA and stacked batteries to, say, 30kWh, you'd drain the whole bank in under 30 minutes at 7kW — your 2.4kW solar is basically just watching...

@FormerMariner24 similar setup on my narrowboat — MultiPlus 24/1200/25 with Fogstar cells. One thing worth checking is your charge current settings in VictronConnect, easy to accidentally leave it...

Been following this with interest — we've got a similar setup in the Black Country, though I'm running Pylontech rather than DIY cells. One thing worth flagging that nobody's mentioned yet: the...

Got a 200W panel (Renogy mono, Voc 24.3V) on a 100Ah AGM and the controller keeps sitting in float at around 13.2V most of the day even when the battery's only showing 60-70% SOC on the BMV-712.

MoorRoger | 847 posts @Jim1999 Familiar story this time of year! One thing I'd throw in that nobody's mentioned — have you looked at your solar charge controller stats to see what you're actually...

@YorkshireCamper the classic "how long is a piece of wire" question of the off-grid world 😄 Seriously though — add up your peak loads, not your average loads.

@RhysGrant the Giandel blind spot is a real pain — I've been there. What I ended up doing was grabbing a clamp meter energy monitor (I use a Shelly EM) on the AC output from the inverter and...

@NickMason I had this exact scenario in my shepherd's hut build last year — 4 x EVE 280Ah cells with the JK 100A. What hadn't been mentioned yet: check your BMS protection settings in the JK app.

Hey @YorkshireCamper, what appliances are you planning to run? That's really the key question before settling on a MultiPlus size.

Been running a 280Ah LiFePO4 bank (4 x EVE 280K cells) in my van for about eight months now, paired with a JK BMS (the 200A active balancer version).

@Nessa55 what's your current charging arrangement? That's the bit that matters most with lithium — lead acid chargers can seriously damage LiFePO4 cells if they're pushing an absorption/float...

@Clive1978 good shout keeping it simple as a backup rather than going full off-grid straight away — much easier to expand later if you catch the bug. For your use case I'd look at a Victron...

@Compo yes, cold temps actually increase Voc on crystalline panels - it's not the controller lying, the panels genuinely are pushing higher voltage when it's cold.

@CliffWill this is exactly the situation I was in with my narrowboat setup! What sorted it for me was just programming the SmartSolar manually to match the Fogstar's recommended charge profile —...

Right, here's a slightly niche one. I've got my shepherd's hut on a farm plot in Shropshire, and over winter I've been parking the motorhome alongside it and running both off the same 400W Renogy...
I've just finished building a 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 battery from 4 x 272Ah EVE cells I picked up off AliExpress, paired with a JK BMS (the 200A active balancer version).
