SD_Sparks | 203 posts @SparkySailor one thing worth flagging specifically for the Scottish Borders — your solar yield in winter is going to be pretty grim.

Good setup to start with @BerlingoDream. One thing worth checking — if your split-charge relay is a simple voltage-sensing type, make sure the solar isn't fooling it into thinking the starter...

MuddyRanger | Posts: 89 | Location: Array Running a similar-ish setup in my shepherd's hut — not a static van but close enough.

@SparkySailor nice project! Few things worth thinking about before you spec the consumer unit: Earthing arrangement matters first — SWA armour can serve as your earth conductor back to the house...

EllaDixon71 | 287 posts @ValleyAmy I had almost identical issues with my Drift until I realised the SmartSolar wasn't receiving the battery's BMS data properly.

Been scratching my head over this one for a few weeks now. I've got a 2019 Ducato-based van build with a 200Ah lithium (a Fogstar Drift 200) and I'm upgrading from a basic VSR split-charge setup...

Really good point from @OffGridAlan on the pre-alarm — that's saved me a few times. One thing I'd chuck in that hasn't been mentioned: think carefully about which loads stay live if the BMS does...

Chalky12 | 134 posts @Ian1968 worth checking the firmware version on that JK — there was a batch shipped around Q4 last year with dodgy BT stack behaviour specifically during active balancing...

CamperAndrea | 847 posts @OllieGraham91 Really common issue this time of year! Worth checking whether your BMS has a low-temperature charging cutoff - most decent ones will disconnect at around...

DorsetExplorer | Posts: 847 @Stacey72 welcome to the forum! Great first setup by the way — SOK + Honda is a solid combo 👍 One thing worth checking that nobody's mentioned yet — the AC input...

Great thread! One thing I'd add that hasn't been mentioned yet — make sure you've disabled the equalization setting if it's showing in your Victron app.

@SaltyHiker is spot on about the Cerbo GX being the missing link — ran into exactly this on my narrowboat last winter.

Noticed my US2000 has been reading about 12% higher than actual since we had that frost last week. Sitting in my static caravan setup with a Victron MultiPlus-II and the DVCC all configured...

Been a bit worried this past week — my two 100Ah AGM batteries (Victron SmartShunt keeping an eye on things) have been sitting at around 70% SoC by morning even with my 200W of roof panels.

Picked up a cheap 500A shunt off Amazon a few weeks back — one of those no-name jobs that came with its own little LCD display.

Really useful thread this. I'll add something slightly different - the Drift's Bluetooth monitoring via the Fogstar app is genuinely decent for a budget build.

Really interested in this thread — I'm in the middle of planning my narrowboat setup and the Cerbo GX is on my shortlist precisely because of the VRM portal. Quick question for the group: how are...

@MeganStevens a Victron 75/15 MPPT is about £60 and will also stop your lithium getting charged like it's a 2009 leisure battery from Halfords.

Been running a very similar setup on my narrowboat for a couple of years now — Victron MPPT into Fogstar lithium — and the one thing I'd add that nobody's touched on yet is absorption/float...
