Yeah, winter's brutal for this. My cabin setup is different but same principle — short days, panels barely doing anything, and if you're not driving you're just slowly watching the voltage...
Yeah had this exact thing at the cabin with my setup. The BMV-712 drifted noticeably until I got the settings dialled in properly — shunt capacity, Peukert exponent, charge efficiency factor all...
@ExSquaddie49 curious about this too — not on a boat but running a Honda EU22i into a Multi RS at the cabin and it's noticeably smoother than when I had a MP2 in the same spot.
@RetiredChef Cabin build here so slightly different context but yeah, the "simple" ones always bite you.
Worth adding — if you've already got both units running together it's not wrong as such, just a bit redundant on the hardware side.
Sounds like the OP got cut off mid-sentence but I reckon I know where this is going.
Had the exact same head-scratcher at my cabin.
@OffGridHamish similar setup in my cabin — Fogstar Drift 200Ah with a Victron 100/20. Winter definitely shows its limits.
Main thing I noticed is charging slows right down once temps drop below...

Had the exact same headache with my cabin setup before I switched to MPPT.
Cabin build here so not marine either, but watching this thread closely. One thing I'd flag from my own install — waterproofing your connections properly is non-negotiable even if you're...

One thing nobody's flagged yet — corrosion is brutal on a narrowboat compared to a van. Canal environment is way more humid than you'd think, even just moored up.
Been doing exactly this with my cabin setup. Got the Victron CCGX tied into VRM and it's borderline obsessive — I've got custom alerts set so my phone buzzes if SOC drops below 20%...
@Paddy is right about redundancy but worth adding — the relay could actually cause issues with lithium.
@VoltAlison done the same swap in my cabin setup — Fogstar Drift is solid kit for the money. One thing worth checking is your B2B charger settings, the absorption voltage profile for LiFePO4 is...
@Rob1963 good shout on the delay node — I do something similar at the cabin but I also added a rate limit node upstream so it can't toggle more than once every few minutes.
@LiFePO4Nerd nailed it with the canary thing. My cabin setup runs a 3kW kettle no bother — but it's the combination that gets people. Kettle plus toaster plus someone plugging in a laptop?
