Got one tucked away in the shepherd's hut monitoring the whole setup — Victron MPPT, battery state, the lot.
Got a similar head-scratcher going on with my shepherd's hut setup actually.
Running a Fogstar 280Ah as the main bank, and I want to keep a separate small 20Ah lithium topped up for the EV...
Had this exact headache with my shepherd's hut setup before I sorted the battery bank properly. One 100Ah lead acid is basically a 50Ah usable battery once you respect the 50% DoD rule — your...
@BayLisa curious what you were going to say about Fogstar there — post got cut off! 😄
For the teardrop specifically, 100Ah LiFePO4 is actually pretty generous depending on what you're running.
@ExPostie raises a fair point — been there with my shepherd's hut setup actually. Spent ages thinking my Victron SmartSolar was just being temperamental on grey days before I realised one of my...
@RoundTuit mixing voltages on a single MPPT is more trouble than it's worth in my experience. The controller will just pull everything down to suit the lowest-performing string — you lose...
Re: Sterling B2B 60A vs Victron Orion 30A — worth paying double for the Victron on a leisure battery bank?
Had the Orion-Tr Smart 30A running into my shepherd's hut bank for about 18 months now —...

@Del72 both devices talk nicely via Bluetooth in VictronConnect but they don't actually coordinate with each other natively — they're just doing their own thing into the same...
@LochSpirit good shout on the south-facing thing — I've got a shepherds hut setup and even with a perfect south pitch I still hit a wall in December/January.

Running a Smart Orion into my shepherd's hut setup — the engine profile stuff is genuinely useful for alternator protection, especially on older engines with less beefy...
Seen this exact thing with my setup. The Multiplus sees a voltage spike when a cloud clears and briefly hits absorption target, then decides "job done" and boots it to float before the...
Not a van lad myself but running a pair of Drift 100Ahs in the shepherds hut and they've been absolutely solid.
@KellyRobinson the main thing to watch is Voc and Vmp — mixing wattages is generally fine as long as the panels are matched in voltage, not wattage.
@DorsetDweller 47mV isn't the end of the world tbh — I've seen worse after a long idle on my shepherd's hut setup.
One thing nobody's mentioned yet: check your parasitic loads.
@ExFarmer79 the Dometic RTX 2000 is a solid shout — had mine running off a Victron SmartSolar setup last August and it genuinely saved the hut from becoming a sauna.
One thing worth adding though:...
