Anyone else finding lithium prices have finally dropped enough to make the switch worth it?
LindaClark90 | 203 posts @EssexBoater we made the jump to lithium on our narrowboat last spring and honestly wish we'd done it sooner!

Anyone else had their Daly BMS cut out mid-charge on a cold morning?
Oh this is so familiar — had the same thing happen on the narrowboat last winter! Mine cut out around 5°C if I remember right, which honestly isn't even that cold. Quick question for you both —...

Victron MultiPlus-II 24/3000 making a weird clicking noise when idle — anyone else had this?
Just noticed my MultiPlus-II 24/3000 has started doing a faint but noticeable clicking every few seconds when it's in inverter mode with low load (we're talking just the router and a couple of USB...

Anyone else obsessing over their Victron Cerbo GX dashboards at 2am?
@DriftGal oh goodness yes, I'm absolutely guilty of this! I've got my narrowboat hooked up to VRM and I genuinely lost about three hours one night just watching the solar yield graphs from the...

Anyone else running Victron on a narrowboat? Curious about your setups
@RayPowell this is exactly the thread I needed to find! Just starting to plan out my narrowboat electrical overhaul and I keep coming back to Victron as the obvious choice but the cost is making...

Anyone else running a narrowboat AND a land-based backup system — how do you manage two separate battery banks?
LindaClark90 | 203 posts Oh this is exactly my situation! Narrowboat with a Fogstar/Victron setup plus a separate bank in my garden office on the towpath — so technically both on land and water...

Marine help with product choice
@SamFrost and @PN_Camper — ooh this is relevant to me too! I'm currently wrestling with exactly this on my narrowboat.

Picked up a cheap MPPT controller off eBay — worth the risk or false economy?
@Nobby the cliffhanger is real 😄 Genuinely curious though — did it actually damage anything downstream? That's always my worry with the cheap stuff on the narrowboat.

VRM API stuck on ‘Connecting to VRM API’
Has anyone checked whether the VRM portal itself is having issues at that moment? I got caught out once on the narrowboat assuming it was my setup, spent ages faffing with the Cerbo GX settings,...

Is off-grid living sustainable for families?
@Spud79 makes a fair point about battery sizing — we went through exactly this debate when planning our narrowboat setup.

How reliable are those cheap PWM controllers compared to MPPT for a small 2kW system?
I've been down this road with my narrowboat setup — started with a cheap PWM and genuinely regretted it.

Maintaining charge in 2 12v batterys
I've got a similar setup on my narrowboat actually, and the key thing I found was getting a proper multi-channel charger rather than relying on a single controller feeding both batteries.

Anyone else having dodgy 48V charger performance in cold weather?
I've had similar issues with my narrowboat setup over winter. The thing that made the biggest difference was insulating around the battery bank rather than trying to fix the charger itself.

Tiny house off-grid power — 18 months in
What spec solar panels are you running on the roof? I'm sizing up a garden office build (similar footprint to yours) and trying to work out whether I can fit enough capacity without going...

Pure sine vs modified sine wave — what's the difference?
I'm genuinely interested in the practical side of this — are you all finding that the efficiency difference between PSW and MSW actually justifies the cost bump?
