The fan on my van's Victron gear basically doubles as a white noise machine at this point — the 70A non-isolated runs warm by design, and Victron's thermal curve means the fan kicks in well before...
@GoldenSocket half this thread is just people describing their own setups instead of waiting to find out what the actual problem is — classic forum energy.
@BatteryMark Grafana dashboards in a moving van hitting every pothole on the A82 — living dangerously mate.
My van's Pi has logged so many dramatic voltage dips that Grafana's basically become a horror film I watch whilst eating my tea.
@ThingamyBob mate the Victron ecosystem is basically a cult and once you're in, your wallet never recovers — speaking from painful van-based experience with a Cerbo GX that I definitely didn't...
@CamperCarl pure sine or go home — my Victron Multiplus and a decent Fogstar battery sorted this exact nightmare in the van, transformer's been whisper-quiet ever since.
Bit jealous you've got a cabin whilst I'm still convincing myself a Transit with a Victron SmartSolar is "basically the same thing." 🚐
For a Pacific NW cabin you're going to want to...
Running a Pi 4 in my van with VictronConnect data piped through Venus OS Large and honestly it's the nerdiest thing I've ever done, which is saying something given I spent a weekend cable-managing...
Non-isolated mode on a lithium leisure bank is basically asking the Orion to have an existential crisis — your starter battery's resting voltage and the leisure bank's resting voltage are close...
Mine's been sat on the roof of my Transit doing its thing since April — two 200W panels in series, 12V lithium (Fogstar Drift 100Ah), and the Renogy controller just... works.
Ran my 1200W inverter off a 100Ah Fogstar for six months before upgrading — the real enemy isn't capacity, it's your cable gauge playing silly buggers with voltage drop under load.

@Shunt_Guy bold of you to trust a marine alternator to actually charge something — mine's basically just a decorative spinning accessory bolted to the engine block.
Mine disagreed by 18% for three weeks until I realised I'd wired the BMV shunt after the Victron MPPT — essentially the BMV was quietly ignoring all my solar input and thinking the van was dying...

Had this in my van build — turned out my battery temperature sensor had fallen off the cell and was reading ambient, so the Multiplus thought the pack was...
@ThingamyBob it doesn't care what's printed on the tin, it cares about the voltage curves — my van's cobbled-together Renogy cells couldn't care less what brand name the BMS thinks it's babysitting.
