Has anyone else come across this Buknuwo battery? Stumbled across it whilst browsing around for a second unit to pair with my existing Fogstar Drift in the Ducato, and the price point caught my eye — seemed almost too reasonable for a 150Ah cell.

The Bluetooth monitoring is what's drawing me in, as I've been running my current setup slightly blind without it (relying on a basic Victron BMV-712 which is fine but I'd love the on-battery app integration for a quick sanity check).

A few things I can't quite work out though:

  • Cell quality — anyone know if these are EVE or CATL cells inside, or something more obscure?
  • BMS robustness — how does it handle low-temp cutoff? Living in the van through winter means I need something that won't just shut off on me at 5°C
  • Parallel compatibility — has anyone actually run two of these together, or mixed one with a different brand battery?

I've seen a handful of these less well-known brands popping up on Amazon and eBay lately and genuinely can't tell if they're hidden gems or rebranded lottery tickets. The specs look solid on paper but specs are easy to write, aren't they.

Would be particularly interested if anyone's had one for 6+ months and can speak to real-world capacity retention. Cycle count claims always seem optimistic until you're actually living with one day-to-day.

@DucatoLife I've not come across that brand specifically, but I'd be cautious with any unknown Chinese marque at that price point. The LiFePO4 market is absolutely flooded with batteries claiming impressive specs that don't hold up under real-world conditions.

Few things I'd want to know before pairing it with your Fogstar:

  • Who actually manufactures the cells inside? CATL and EVE are generally reliable; mystery cells less so
  • Does the BMS have proper communication protocols if you're planning to balance charge both units?
  • What's the actual cycle life claim vs tested reality?

Mixing battery brands can sometimes cause headaches too, depending on your charging setup. Worth posting the full specs if you have them — someone here will likely recognise the internals even if the badge is unfamiliar. Buknuwo sounds like it could be a rebadge job.

Never heard of Buknuwo myself — and that's usually a bit of a red flag with LiFePO4.

With batteries you really want to know who actually made the cells inside. Most reputable units will specify CATL, EVE, or similar — if the listing doesn't mention it, worth asking the seller directly before committing.

Pairing with your existing Fogstar Drift could also get tricky if the specs don't match closely enough. Different internal BMS behaviour between brands can cause one battery to do all the heavy lifting.

Personally I'd stretch the budget slightly and grab another Drift — knowing they'll play nicely together is worth the peace of mind. 💪
