Had something similar crop up on my narrowboat setup last autumn — Multiplus II 24v/3000 throwing low battery warnings even though my Fogstar Drift 200Ah cells were reading fine at the terminals.
The 18.5v at the lugs is the telling detail here. On a 24v system that's properly alarming — you're well below the threshold where the Multiplus will start complaining, and honestly below where you want LiFePO4 sitting for any length of time.
Few things worth checking in roughly this order:
- BMS cutoff — if you're running lithium, has the BMS tripped internally? The battery can appear connected but be effectively open circuit
- Cable voltage drop — measure at the battery terminals directly, not just the Multiplus lugs. A dodgy connection or undersized cable can cause a significant discrepancy under load
- VEConfigure / VictronConnect — pull the actual DC input voltage reading from the unit itself rather than relying on a multimeter at the lugs. Sometimes tells a different story
- Shore power charger profile — worth double-checking your charging profile is actually set for lithium if that's what you're running. A lead-acid profile on LiFePO4 can leave cells genuinely low
The shore power not making any difference is interesting. Suggests to me the Multiplus may have gone into a protection state and isn't accepting charge, or the BMS has disconnected the charge path entirely.
What battery chemistry are you running and is there anything between the battery and the inverter — isolator, fuse, bus bars? That'd help narrow it down.
