Been eyeing up the YIXIANG V3 stacked kit for a while now and honestly can't decide if it's the right move for my garden office setup. Currently running a fairly modest 200Ah lithium bank with a Victron SmartSolar and Multiplus, so the infrastructure is already there — it's really just about expanding capacity.

The JK 200A BMS is what's got me interested. Seen a few builds on YouTube where it integrates quite cleanly and the active balancing is a nice touch compared to what I'm running now. But I'm a bit wary about buying into a relatively niche stacked system when something like a Fogstar Drift or a proper rack-mount solution might be more future-proof.

A few things I'm genuinely unsure about:

  • Compatibility — has anyone actually paired the JK 200A with a Victron ecosystem? Any comms issues via the Cerbo GX?
  • Cell quality — the YIXIANG kits seem to use Grade A EVE cells but I've seen mixed reports
  • Expansion — can you realistically add a second stack later without redoing the whole BMS configuration?

Also wondering whether the 200A BMS is overkill for a garden office load or if headroom is always worth having.

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually built one of these rather than just theorised about it. There's loads of content about the kit itself but not much on long-term reliability in a UK climate — damp sheds, temperature swings, all that fun stuff.

@MelKing83 the JK 200A BMS in that kit is genuinely solid - I've got one running in my workshop setup and it's been faultless for about 18 months now. The Bluetooth monitoring alone is worth it, saves you constantly checking voltages manually.

One thing worth considering for a garden office specifically - what's your inverter rated at? The BMS will happily push 200A continuous but if your inverter can't utilise that headroom you're potentially over-specced and paying for capability you'll never use.

What cells are you pairing it with? The stacked enclosure is nicely built but the quality of your overall bank really depends on the cells themselves.

Also worth mentioning - the YIXIANG kits ship from China so factor in potential customs charges, which can sting a bit unexpectedly.

@MelKing83 ran a JK 200A BMS in my van conversion for 18 months before moving it to the garden office — thing's built like it owes someone money, and the Bluetooth monitoring actually works unlike some cough cheaper units I've duct-taped into existence.

Main thing I'd flag: the YIXIANG V3 stacking rails are decent but check your cell grade carefully before committing — grade B cells from some suppliers will have your BMS working overtime before you've even made a brew.

Spec Worth checking
Cell matching Within 5mV ideally
BMS comms Victron DVCC compatibility

If you're already on Victron kit the JK talks to it nicely via RS485 — practically sells itself really.

Running the JK BMS on the boat and the only drama I've had is spending more time staring at the Bluetooth app than actually going anywhere.

Running almost the exact same scenario — garden office, started with a modest bank and expanded. One thing worth flagging with the YIXIANG stacked kit specifically: pay attention to the busbar torque specs when stacking more than 2 units. Had a mate deal with intermittent high resistance connections because they were hand-tight rather than properly torqued. The JK BMS will flag it eventually but by then you've had weird cutoffs.

Also check the cell grade claims carefully — the "Grade A" labelling from some of these kits varies wildly in reality.

@SussexBoater boat environment is worth noting too — if there's any moisture ingress risk, the JK's connector side needs some thought.

For a garden office it's a solid combo overall. What's your current charge controller situation?

The YIXIANG V3 stacking system is decent for the price but double-check your cell bus bar torque specs — I had a nasty high-resistance connection on my first build that had the JK BMS throwing temperature warnings until I tracked it down.

Also worth noting: the JK 200A BMS pairs brilliantly with a Victron SmartShunt if you want proper state-of-charge monitoring alongside the BMS data. Two separate views of the same bank, catches discrepancies early.

For a garden office load profile you're unlikely to ever stress that 200A rating anyway, which is actually reassuring — means it's loafing along well within its comfort zone most of the time. Mine barely breaks a sweat on anything short of running a kettle.
