Aliexpress Back to school Sale with $130 off code, 48V 314Ah Battery less than $1600

Interesting find, but I'm always a bit cautious about pulling the trigger on cells from AliExpress without more due diligence first. Has anyone here actually received one of these 314Ah packs and had a chance to capacity test it properly?

A few things I'd want to know before considering this for my static caravan setup:

• Actual capacity vs rated capacity — are these Grade A cells or are we looking at B-grade being marketed otherwise?
• BMS quality — what's included and is it worth keeping or an immediate swap-out job?
• Shipping to the UK — has anyone had issues with customs charges eating into that apparent saving?

The price point is tempting, I'll grant that. For context I've been pricing up Fogstar Drift cells as a more verifiable alternative, and the gap is narrowing when you factor in import duties and the faff of dealing with a potential warranty claim from overseas.

What's the actual delivered cost to a UK address once you've added everything up? And has anyone run one of these through a proper cycle test with a Victron SmartShunt or similar to see what the real-world numbers look like?

Not dismissing it outright — just want to see some data before recommending anything like this to people in similar situations. Would genuinely consider it for a second bank if the numbers stack up.

Genuine points to consider:

• Grade A vs actual Grade A — those spec sheets are optimistic at best, fictional at worst
• No CE marking, no UK PSSR compliance, customs can seize lithium shipments without warning
• Warranty claims are... spirited discussions via Google Translate
• Fogstar or CATL cells via a UK supplier means you've got someone to phone when it goes sideways

I've run a Victron setup in my motorhome for three years — paid more upfront, slept soundly every night. The £300 saving evaporates fast when you factor in a single disappointing capacity test and zero recourse.

Before anyone commits to a pack like this, I'd strongly recommend requesting the actual test data files (not just screenshots), checking whether the capacity is rated at 0.2C or 1C discharge, and running the cell model number through the EVE or CATL datasheets to verify it's even a genuine production cell.

The £1,200 price point is tempting, no question. But factor in import duties, potential returns hassle if something's wrong, and the cost of a decent BMS if it's not included - suddenly it's less of a bargain. What's the BMS situation on this particular listing?

@HighlandOffGrid the grading thing drives me absolutely mad. "Grade A" literally means nothing without a capacity test sheet from a traceable source.

Got stung on a batch of 280Ah cells a couple of years back — seller claimed Grade A, arrived with wildly mismatched internal resistance figures. Ended up having to balance them manually for weeks before my Victron Lynx setup would stop throwing fits.

If you're seriously considering this, minimum I'd want is:

• Actual capacity test data per cell (not a generic sheet)
• Confirmation they're matched sets
• A seller with verified UK/EU buyer feedback specifically

Fogstar at least gives you some accountability. £1,200 on AliExpress with no recourse if they're duds is a different proposition entirely.
