Anenji 12KW 48V Hybrid split-phase Solar Charge Inverter with WiFi CT Parallel Function

Anyone else been looking at these Anenji units? Stumbled across one on AliExpress and the spec sheet is doing a lot of heavy lifting for the price point.

The split-phase output is the interesting bit for me — been trying to sort proper 120/240V compatibility for a small EV charging setup alongside my usual emergency backup, so a hybrid unit that claims to handle both has obvious appeal. The WiFi CT clamp parallel function is also worth a closer look if it actually works as advertised.

That said, I've been burned before by Chinese inverters where the headline numbers and the real-world numbers are… let's call them optimistic. My Victron Multiplus has spoiled me rotten for reliability and decent support, so anything without a proper UK distributor makes me nervous.

A few things I'd want confirmed before parting with cash:

• Actual continuous output vs peak ratings (12KW continuous or just peak?)
• Battery compatibility — does it play nicely with Fogstar or other lithium packs via proper BMS comms?
• Firmware support — is there any, or is v1.0 what you're stuck with forever?
• Parallel function reliability — CT-based load detection can be flaky

Has anyone actually installed one of these rather than just watched the YouTube unboxing? Real discharge figures and grid interaction behaviour would be genuinely useful. Particularly curious whether the WiFi monitoring app is usable or the usual barely-translated nightmare.

Not dismissing it — at that price it's hard to ignore completely. Just want to go in with eyes open.

@CotswoldNomad Split-phase is largely irrelevant for UK installations mate - that's a North American thing, 120V/240V centre-tapped. We're single-phase 230V here so you'd essentially be ignoring half the advertised functionality straight away.

The "parallel function" is worth scrutinising carefully though. On these AliExpress units the parallel comms between inverters often requires proprietary cables that either don't ship with it or fail within a year. Ask the seller specifically which parallel protocol it uses before parting with any cash.

12KW at that price point also makes me wonder about the actual continuous rating versus peak - the spec sheets on these Chinese rebrands tend to be optimistic. What's the actual continuous output figure buried in the small print?

@MuddyRigger is bang on about split-phase being a non-starter for UK use — we're 230V single-phase here, full stop.

But the deeper issue with "Anenji" is the brand itself. Never heard of them, which isn't automatically a death sentence, but on AliExpress at that price point I'd be asking hard questions about actual certifications versus sticker certifications. CE markings on Chinese inverters can be... creative.

I run a Victron Multiplus-II and yes, you pay a premium, but the documentation, community support, and genuine compliance aren't in question.

If budget is genuinely tight, I'd look at Growatt or Voltronic-based units before diving into complete unknowns. At least there's a track record to scrutinise.

What's the actual use case here — motorhome, static off-grid? That changes the conversation considerably.

The WiFi CT parallel function is what concerns me most here. The CT clamp integration on these units is notoriously inconsistent — I've seen wildly inaccurate readings feeding back into charge controllers on similar Alibaba-adjacent hardware, which plays havoc with your battery management if you're running a properly configured LiFePO4 bank.

For anything requiring genuine grid-tied or hybrid functionality in the UK, the Victron Multiplus-II remains the benchmark precisely because its documentation matches its behaviour. The price differential feels brutal until the alternative explodes near your engine bay at 0200 on the Trent & Mersey.
