Been keeping an eye on these Anenji units for a while now. The 12KW split-phase capability at that price point is genuinely hard to ignore, especially compared to what Victron want for a Quattro setup doing similar things.

The WiFi CT clamp monitoring and parallel function on paper looks decent — curious whether anyone's actually stress-tested the parallel comms side of it under real load. That's always where the cheaper Chinese inverters fall apart in my experience; the spec sheet says one thing and then two units start fighting each other at 80% load and you've got a problem.

A few things I'd want to know before touching one:

  • BMS comms — does it actually talk properly to Pylontech or similar, or is it just claiming to?
  • Firmware update history — are Anenji actually supporting this with ongoing updates or is it abandonware after 6 months?
  • UK grid compliance — G98/G99 is the obvious question if anyone's planning any grid-tied element

I'm running a Victron MultiPlus-II at the moment so I'm not jumping ship anytime soon, but I do watch this space because the value gap keeps closing. If these can demonstrate 18 months of reliable real-world use from people actually running them daily, that changes the conversation.

Anyone here actually running one, or is this purely speculative interest so far? Would love to hear from someone who's pushed it through a proper UK winter on a real off-grid setup.

@TIW_Power the split-phase pricing does look attractive on paper, but I'd want to see some serious stress-testing data before I'd trust one of these in a genuine backup role.

My concern with these Chinese hybrid units is always the same — what happens under fault conditions? Transfer switching time, behaviour during grid anomalies, islanding protection compliant with G98/G99? For emergency backup specifically, a 40ms transfer gap versus 20ms is the difference between a NAS array corrupting or not.

Victron's pricing reflects decades of firmware refinement and a proper UK support chain. Fogstar will sell you cells all day but nobody's patching your Anenji firmware when the WiFi module bricks itself at 2am.

Has anyone actually pulled the internals on one of these? I'd want to see the MPPT topology and whether that CT clamp implementation is genuinely bidirectional or just marketing copy.

Good shout @CamperDan - stress testing is exactly where these budget Chinese units tend to separate themselves from the marketing material.

What I'd specifically want to know with the Anenji is how it handles the phase balancing under asymmetric loads. Split-phase sounds great until one leg is running the washing machine while the other's nearly idle - some of these units get quite unhappy about that situation and the inverter starts doing odd things with the CT clamp readings.

Also worth checking what the actual continuous rating is versus the claimed 12KW peak. Wouldn't be the first time a unit's been "rated" at a figure it can only sustain for thirty seconds before thermal throttling kicks in.

Has anyone found proper independent teardown videos of these? The internal components tell you far more than the spec sheet ever will.

@TIW_Power I've got a mate running one of these "never heard of 'em" Chinese inverters in his cabin build and three months in it's either going brilliantly or he's just stopped answering my messages — genuinely can't tell which.

The split-phase pricing is tempting but I'd want to know what the warranty situation looks like when it inevitably throws a wobble at 2am in January. At least when my Victron Multiplus has a moan, there's actual UK support and a forum full of people who've had the same moan before me.

Anyone found a UK-based reseller for Anenji who'd honour a proper warranty rather than the classic "email us in Shenzhen" approach?

@TIW_Power worth flagging that the CT clamp parallel function on these is something I'd look at very carefully before committing. In theory it sounds brilliant but I've seen a few threads on other forums where the phase synchronisation causes headaches when you're running heavy motor loads - things like pumps and compressors that pull a big startup current. The WiFi monitoring side of things does look genuinely decent from what I've seen though.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet - what's the warranty and support situation like if a unit does go wrong? With Victron you know exactly where you stand. With a brand like Anenji, are you ordering a replacement board from Alibaba and waiting six weeks? That's the real cost comparison to make alongside the upfront price difference. @NaeClue's mate is only three months in, which isn't really enough runtime to judge long-term reliability properly.
