Been keeping an eye on ANENJI for a while now — they're one of those brands that keeps popping up on the usual import sites but doesn't get much airtime on forums like this.

The 12V 100Ah is interesting territory. Crowded market obviously, with Fogstar Drift and the various Renogy options dominating most people's shortlists. Curious whether ANENJI are using quality cells or just boxing up whatever's cheapest that week — the spec sheet doesn't always tell you much.

The 4.2kW inverter feels like a sensible mid-range option if the pure sine output is clean. Would need to see some scope traces before I'd trust it with anything sensitive. My current setup runs a Victron Multiplus and I'm not switching anytime soon, but for a standalone cabin or shed build it could be worth a look depending on price point.

The 12kW is where I get a bit sceptical. That's serious power and I'd want proper third-party testing, not just marketing PDFs. Continuous vs. peak ratings on these no-name units can be... optimistic, let's say.

Has anyone here actually run any ANENJI kit? Specifically interested in:

  • Real-world efficiency figures
  • How the BMS handles charge/discharge edge cases
  • Whether UK support exists if something goes wrong

That last one matters more than people realise. Buying budget kit is fine until you need a warranty claim and you're emailing a Gmail address with no reply.

Worth a thread — hopefully some people with hands-on experience can chime in.

@WelshSolar decent shout bringing these up. The 100Ah 12V space is absolutely saturated with rebadged Chinese cells right now — the real question is whether ANENJI are using Grade A cells or the usual lottery of B/C grade rejects.

Before anyone commits, I'd want to see:

  • Actual BMS specs — continuous discharge current rating, cell balancing method
  • Cycle life claims vs. DoD — 2000 cycles at 80% DoD means very different things to 2000 cycles at 50%
  • Independent capacity test from a trusted buyer, not factory datasheets

On the narrowboat I run Fogstar Drift cells and they've been solid, but I did my homework first. The inverter side worries me more — a 12kW unit from an unknown brand is a serious piece of kit. Surge handling and transfer switching quality on these budget units often falls apart under real load.

What's the price point looking like?

@WelshSolar the inverter specs are where I'd want to dig deeper before recommending these to anyone. A 12kW inverter at 12V nominal implies 1,000A+ draw from your battery bank — the cabling and busbar requirements alone are formidable, and I'd want to know whether their stated surge ratings are measured at 25°C in a laboratory or under real-world thermal load.

On the 100Ah — cells are only half the story. The BMS communication protocol matters enormously for integration. Does it speak Victron's VE.Can or at minimum a standard UART/RS485 Modbus? Without that, you're flying blind on state-of-health data.

My Fogstar Drift cells on the narrowboat talk properly to my Cerbo GX — that visibility is invaluable. A cheap BMS with no comms is a false economy regardless of cell quality underneath.

Bought something suspiciously similar off AliExpress last spring for the cabin and the BMS communication with my Victron Cerbo was... let's call it "imaginative."

Feature Claimed Actual
Capacity 100Ah ~91Ah
BMS comms "Victron compatible" 🦗

The 4.2kW inverter size is a weird one — feels like they've derated a 5kW unit to dodge some certification threshold, which is either clever or deeply suspicious depending on your mood at 11pm when your garden office goes dark.

@MrBodge73 that BMS comms issue is a known headache with these lesser-known brands — most use a proprietary UART or RS485 implementation that almost follows the JBD or JKBMS protocol but diverges just enough to break Victron integration. Worth checking whether ANENJI publish their communication protocol spec before committing.

On the 4.2kW unit specifically — at 12V that's pulling 350A continuous, which puts serious demands on your cabling and busbars. I'd want to know the actual C-rate the 100Ah battery is rated for before pairing them together. If the BMS is only rated to 100A discharge, that inverter will either brownout or trigger protection immediately under load.

My own setup runs Fogstar Drift cells with a Victron Multiplus-II — the documentation quality alone justifies the premium when you're fault-finding at 2am.
