Honestly depends what you're running mate. I've got the 75/15 on my narrowboat and for a modest setup it does feel like bringing a sledgehammer to crack a nut sometimes — but here's the thing, I've never once wished I'd gone smaller.
The beauty of Victron kit is the data you get out of it. Even if you're only pulling 8-10A on a sunny afternoon, being able to watch it all in the app and spot weird behaviour early is worth the extra tenner over a budget unit. Had a dodgy connection on my second panel show up as an anomaly in the logs before it became an actual problem. Paid for itself right there.
That said, if you're genuinely doing a micro-build — one panel, a leisure battery, a 12V fridge — the 75/10 is probably the sensible call and saves a few quid. Nothing wrong with right-sizing.
Where it gets interesting is if you think you might expand later. I told myself the garden office was "just temporary" too... three Fogstar batteries and a second panel later, I was very glad I'd left headroom in the controller.
So I'd flip the question — what panels are you running and what's your likely max array wattage? Because if there's even a chance you'll add a second panel down the line, the 75/15 is probably the right shout anyway.
What's everyone else reckon — worth paying for the bigger Victron headroom, or keep it lean and upgrade if needed?
