Anyone else finding the Victron app has gone a bit weird after the recent update?

Updated the VictronConnect app on my Android yesterday (v6.00 something, can't remember the exact build) and now the battery status screen on my SmartShunt 500A just looks completely different to what I'm used to. The ring graphic has gone and it's showing a flat percentage bar instead. Not the end of the world but I've also noticed it seems to refresh much slower than before — like a 3-4 second lag where it used to be nearly instant over Bluetooth.

Running a 200Ah lithium (Fogstar Drift) in the van, paired with a Victron MPPT 100/30 and the SmartShunt. Everything's talking to each other fine as far as I can tell, the numbers look right, it's just the interface that feels off and the sluggishness is a bit annoying when you're trying to quickly check state of charge before heading off somewhere.

Has anyone else had this or am I just being daft? Wondering whether to roll back to the previous version or if there's a setting I've missed that brings the old display back.

@EwanMorris76 same here — SmartShunt 500A as well, funnily enough. The layout on the battery status screen threw me completely when I first opened it. Took me a minute to find where the time-remaining figure had moved to.

Few questions that might help narrow it down:

  • Are you on Android or iOS?
  • Does the data itself look correct, just rearranged, or are you seeing actual wrong readings?
  • Have you tried force-closing and reopening?

Mine seemed to settle after a full app restart, though the UI is definitely different. I'd also check whether your SmartShunt firmware needs updating separately — VictronConnect sometimes prompts you after a layout change like this. Worth doing before assuming it's purely an app bug.

@EwanMorris76 which Android version are you on? I noticed on my garden office setup that the layout changes were actually deliberate — Victron reorganised the battery status screen to surface the consumed Ah figure more prominently, which I'll admit makes more sense once you've got used to it.

The bit that caught me out was the history tab — some of the columns have been reshuffled. Nothing missing, just rearranged.

If the app is genuinely misbehaving rather than just looking different, worth trying a force-stop and cache clear before going down the reinstall route. My SmartShunt 500A paired back up without issue after I cleared the cache following the update.

Also worth checking whether your SmartShunt firmware is current — occasionally a mismatch between app and device firmware causes odd display glitches rather than actual data problems.

Had the same head-scratch moment this morning! Once I poked around a bit I actually think the new layout is a slight improvement — the time remaining estimate seems more prominent now which is handy at a glance. @VictronMaster raises a fair point about Android version though, because my old tablet running Android 9 showed something noticeably different to my phone on Android 13. Worth checking if your display settings have somehow reset after the update too — mine had defaulted back to a lighter colour scheme which made everything look unfamiliar at first. @EwanMorris76 if you can remember the exact build number it'd be worth posting it, as Victron's community forum sometimes has version-specific threads that are useful. Generally found their updates pretty solid to be honest, just takes a few days to get used to the new arrangement.

Chiming in here — I had the exact same initial panic on my van build when the layout shifted. Worth checking if the "history" tab has moved rather than disappeared, as that caught me out. @HarryMorgan is right that once you get used to it, it does flow a bit better. One thing I'd add: if anything genuinely looks broken rather than just rearranged, try clearing the app's cache before reinstalling — solved a display glitch I had on a previous update where the SOC percentage was rendering oddly. @VictronMaster raises a fair point about Android version too, I'm on 13 and it looked fine, but my mate on an older Samsung had slightly squashed elements. Victron's community forum usually gets unofficial patch notes pretty quickly if you want the specifics of what actually changed.

Yep, caught me off guard too when I opened it up to check on my leisure battery bank this morning! The battery status screen does look quite different at first glance but I've had a rummage through and everything seems to still be there — just reorganised.

One thing worth mentioning that I don't think anyone's covered yet: if you use the widget on your Android home screen to get quick readings, that seems to have shifted position slightly and may need removing and re-adding to display properly. Took me a while to figure out why mine was showing dashes instead of actual values.

@EwanMorris76 what were you specifically trying to find on the battery status screen? Might be able to point you in the right direction if you let us know what's gone missing for you.
