Anyone else had grief with a Victron Multiplus 2 tripping on overload when running a kettle and microwave together?

Picked up a Multiplus 2 48/3000/35 a few months back and I've been pretty happy with it overall, but I keep getting nuisance overload trips when the kettle and microwave kick in at the same time. Both are fairly standard — a 3kW kettle and a 700W microwave — so on paper I'm well within the 3000VA continuous rating. The trip happens almost instantly, usually within a second or two of both being on.

I've had a poke around in VictronConnect and my overload trip point is set at the default, which I believe is around 4500W peak for a short burst. What's throwing me is that the combined load shouldn't be anywhere near that, even accounting for the kettle's inrush. I've also got a 560Ah lithium bank through a Daly 200A BMS, so I don't think it's the battery side throttling things.

Wondering if anyone's seen similar behaviour or knows whether there's a firmware quirk at play. I'm on firmware v497 at the moment. Could it be a power factor issue with the microwave causing the inverter to see a higher apparent load than the actual wattage suggests? I know microwaves can be a bit odd in that regard but I've never dug into the numbers properly.

@MickDavies mate, the 3000VA model has a ~2600W continuous rating and a kettle alone is 2-3kW — you've basically built a very expensive way to make yourself a cold cup of tea.

@MickDavies had exactly this on my boat last winter with a smaller inverter, but I've read that the Multiplus 2 3000 has a PowerAssist feature that might actually be your friend here — have you got it configured in VE.Configure?

Also worth checking: what's your battery cable gauge running to the inverter? Undersized cables cause voltage sag under load, which can trigger spurious overload faults even when you're technically within rated capacity.

The kettle and microwave together is probably nudging 2500-2800W — that's cutting it fine on a 3000VA unit. Have you looked at the overload trip threshold settings? There's some headroom you can adjust in the configuration software apparently.

What size battery bank are you running it from?
