Fitted two Fogstar Drift 200Ah batteries in a vented under-floor box last autumn — seemed dead clever at the time. Come February, the Victron SmartShunt terminals were wearing a little cardigan of corrosion and one BMS was throwing a temperature fault every other Tuesday.
Box is nominally sealed with a couple of 40mm vents, sitting just ahead of the rear axle on my Transit-based conversion. Moisture clearly finds a way in when you're parked up for weeks at a time in a Welsh layby doing absolutely nothing useful with your life.
Debating whether to line the whole box in closed-cell foam, bung in a small 12V desiccant dehumidifier, or just admit defeat and relocate the batteries inside under the bed like a sensible person. Anyone actually cracked this, or is under-floor lithium just a beautiful disaster waiting to happen?
