Converted my hut onto a flatbed trailer last spring and the solar setup has been a proper adventure — 400W of Renogy panels on the roof, a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30, and a pair of Fogstar Drift 100Ah lithiums wired in parallel. On a decent day I'm pulling 25A easy, which keeps the 12V fridge and lights happy without breaking a sweat.
The fun starts when I park under trees or on a dodgy angle because the shepherd's hut roof pitch means one panel goes into partial shade and the whole array throws a strop. Thinking of splitting onto two separate MPPTs to sort it, but that feels like overkill for a weekend glamping rig.
Anyone else running a hut-on-trailer or similar oddly-shaped roof setup — what's your shading workaround, and is the dual-MPPT faff actually worth it?
