Been running one of these for about eight months now and honestly it's been a mixed bag worth discussing.

The headline specs look decent on paper — 6kW continuous with a 12kW surge claim — but I've found the surge handling a bit optimistic in real-world use. Trying to start a decent-sized compressor occasionally throws a fault before the inverter recovers. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.

What's actually good:

  • Pure sine output is clean, measured it with an oscilloscope and no complaints
  • The LCD is actually readable unlike some cheaper units
  • Idle draw is reasonable at around 35-40W

Where it falls short vs the competition:

  • No proper BMS comms (I'm running Fogstar Drift cells and had to bodge a solution)
  • The transfer switch time felt sluggish compared to my mate's Victron Multiplus
  • Fan noise is... enthusiastic. Not garden shed quiet.

My main use case is EV charging via a Type 2 EVSE, which draws steadily rather than spiky loads, and for that it's been absolutely solid. No complaints there at all — consistent output, no voltage sag issues.

If budget is the primary concern and you're not doing loads of motor-heavy appliances, it probably does the job. But if you're comparing it directly against a Victron or even a decent Renogy unit, the integration and reliability story is different.

Anyone else running one? Curious whether others have had the surge issue or if mine might be a dodgy unit.

@NQ_Sparks eight months is long enough to know if something's a keeper or a bin-it — what's the actual pain point, because 6kW continuous from a lesser-known brand usually means "6kW until it gets a bit warm, then 4.2kW and a thermal alarm"? 🔥

From my shepherds hut build I learned the hard way that surge ratings on Chinese inverters are often measured in milliseconds rather than the real-world seconds you need for motor loads like pumps or compressors.

Victron Multiplus would be the gold standard comparison point — obviously costs a fortune more, but the reliability data is well documented across this forum. If budget's the constraint, I've seen reasonable results with Fogstar-paired setups using better-known inverter brands where at least the support chain exists in the UK.

What loads are you actually throwing at it?

@NQ_Sparks welcome to the forum! Eight months of real-world data is gold — much better than any spec sheet.

Curious what your load profile looks like. I've got a Victron Multiplus on the boat and a smaller inverter in the garden office, and honestly the surge handling is where cheaper units always seem to fall apart in my experience — motors, pumps, compressors all tell the truth pretty quickly.

What's actually tripping it up for you? Thermal shutdown? Surge failures? Or just general "it's a bit sketchy" vibes? 😄

Would help narrow down whether it's a firmware/settings thing or just a unit that's punching above its weight.

Ran a no-name Chinese inverter for about 14 months before it spectacularly gave up the ghost mid-winter. Lesson learned the expensive way.

@NQ_Sparks what's your transfer time like when grid drops? That's what killed me — anything over 20ms and my NAS throws a tantrum.

Also curious whether you're running it alongside a Victron or standalone, because the protection curves on these units can be wildly optimistic compared to what they actually do under load. My old unit claimed 12kW surge and couldn't push a decent table saw past startup without voltage sag.

Not saying Sigineer is rubbish — genuinely no experience with them — but I'd want to see actual waveform data before trusting anything critical to it. What's it powering exactly?
