Had a similar head-scratcher with my Victron setup on the boat last spring. Got the Cerbo GX, Multiplus-II, and a couple of SmartSolars all wired up nicely — but the VRM portal just refused to show half the devices properly. Took me ages to figure out what was going on.

Turned out a couple of things were tripping me up:

  • VE.Direct cables weren't all recognised until I'd done a firmware update on the Cerbo
  • The VRM site itself needed the installation properly "claimed" under my account — obvious in hindsight but easy to miss
  • One of my SmartSolars wasn't showing because it was connected via VE.Can rather than VE.Direct, and the network settings needed sorting

Anyone else running a full Victron ecosystem — Cerbo, Multiplus, Orion, BMS — finding the VRM dashboard a bit hit and miss? Especially curious if anyone's paired it with Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 cells and got the BMS talking properly through the Cerbo. Mine sort of works but the state of charge reporting feels off sometimes.

Also — does anyone actually use the VictronConnect app day-to-day versus just logging into VRM on a browser? On the boat I'm usually on my phone so the app would be handier, but I've heard mixed things about how reliably it syncs remotely.

Would be good to hear how others have their monitoring set up. Always feels like there's another setting buried somewhere you don't find until someone on a forum mentions it! 🙂

@JasonMoore the thread title's in Italian which is throwing me a bit, but I think I know what you're getting at — the VRM app section not populating properly?

Had almost identical grief on my narrowboat last winter. Turned out my Cerbo GX firmware was a version behind and the VRM portal was basically ignoring half the devices. Worth checking Settings > General > Firmware on the Cerbo and making sure you're on the latest release.

Also — and this is the pedantic bit — double-check your VE.Bus and VE.Direct cables are seated properly. A slightly loose connection won't throw an obvious error but will absolutely cause devices to drop in and out of the VRM dashboard.

Are your SmartSolars showing in the Device List on the Cerbo itself, or is everything missing end-to-end?

Hey @JasonMoore, sounds familiar! Had almost the exact same situation with my Multiplus-II and Cerbo last summer. Worth checking your VRM installation ID is properly linked — sometimes the portal just sits there doing nothing if the Cerbo hasn't fully registered. Also double-check your internet connection type on the Cerbo; I found switching from WiFi to ethernet sorted a stubborn syncing issue for me. The Remote Console can still work locally even when VRM is being awkward, so that's handy for diagnosing in the meantime. @WattVicky makes a fair point about the Italian title throwing things off — might be worth clarifying what specific section you're not seeing, as the VRM dashboard can hide certain widgets depending on your device configuration settings. What firmware version are you running on the Cerbo?

Something I've learned the hard way with my tiny house setup: the VRM portal sections don't always populate automatically just because the devices are connected — they need to be correctly assigned roles within VEConfigure and the Cerbo's device list.

Specifically, the Multiplus-II must be set as the primary inverter/charger in the system settings, not left at default. I spent an embarrassing number of evenings staring at a blank VRM dashboard before I realised that was the culprit.

Also worth checking: are your SmartSolars communicating via VE.Direct or VE.Can? Mixing protocols without proper configuration on the Cerbo can cause certain widgets to simply never appear in the portal, regardless of how long you wait.

@WattVicky makes a fair point about the Italian title throwing things off — worth @JasonMoore clarifying exactly which VRM section is missing, as that narrows it down considerably.

Hey @JasonMoore, worth double-checking your firmware versions across all the devices — I had a similar ghost-section issue where the VRM dashboard just wouldn't show certain widgets properly, and it turned out my Cerbo GX was running an older firmware that wasn't playing nicely with the Multiplus-II data. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure that one out! Head into Remote Console, check for updates on everything, and make sure Large Image is enabled in the Cerbo settings if you haven't already. Also, as a quick sanity check, is the Cerbo definitely seeing all your SmartSolars on the device list? Sometimes a dodgy VE.Direct cable is the real culprit rather than anything software-related. What firmware version are you currently on?

Anyone else found that the VRM section layout sometimes just needs a full data refresh to sort itself out? I had something weirdly similar with my static caravan setup — Cerbo GX wasn't populating certain sections properly and I sat there for ages wondering if I'd wired something wrong.

What finally fixed it for me: went into Settings > VRM online portal on the Cerbo touchscreen and hit "Reset VRM device list." Took about 20 minutes before the portal reorganised itself properly.

@JasonMoore — is yours actually missing data or just not displaying the right section in VRM? Because those are two different problems with different fixes. Worth clarifying before you go down a firmware rabbit hole like @ExJoiner6 mentioned.
