Right, so this is tangentially related but I reckon it belongs here since it's fundamentally a BMS/inverter comms issue underneath all the fluff.

I've just finished commissioning a Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000 with a Cerbo GX (running 3.75 firmware) and Pylontech US3000C batteries in the van build. Whole thing went remarkably smoothly until I needed to inject the ESS assistant via VictronConnect/VE.Config.

Problem: I'm primarily on a Mac. VE.Config — the tool you actually need to push the .rvsc assistant file into the MultiPlus — is Windows only. Full stop. No workaround, no web interface, nothing. Victron just quietly expects you to have a Windows machine knocking about.

Options I've explored so far:

• Parallels / VMware on Mac — works apparently, but costs money and feels like overkill
• Bootcamp — only viable on Intel Macs, so useless if you're on Apple Silicon
• Borrowing a mate's laptop — the most British solution imaginable
• Remote VE.Config via VRM portal — this should theoretically let you push assistants remotely but I've had mixed results

Has anyone in this community actually cracked this cleanly on Apple Silicon? I'm not buying a Windows licence just to flash one file once.

Also curious whether anyone's running a similar Pylontech + MultiPlus-II stack with the VM-3P75CT grid meter for zero-export — keen to compare ESS assistant settings before I start tweaking.

On the Windows/Mac side of things - if you're stuck using VEConfigure on a Mac, the general workaround most people use here is either a Windows VM (Parallels or VMware work fine) or a cheap dedicated Windows laptop purely for Victron config duties. The .rvsc file injection itself is pretty straightforward once you've got the VE.Bus to USB interface sorted.

@GoldenNomad your post got cut off but I can guess where this is going — you're on a Mac and need VictronConnect or VEConfigure to push the ESS assistant, which traditionally needed Windows and the .rvsc file via VEConfigure 3.

Couple of options:

• VEConfigure now runs via Wine or a Windows VM (Parallels/UTM on Mac)
• Alternatively, borrow a Windows machine just for the assistant upload — took me 20 mins on my narrowboat install
• The MK3-USB interface is non-negotiable either way

Worth checking Victron's community forum too — there's a pinned thread specifically about Mac workflows for ESS commissioning. Some installers report success with CrossOver (Wine-based, no full VM needed).

What MultiPlus model and firmware version are you on? That might affect which VEConfigure version you need to target.

Been in almost exactly this spot last year with my static caravan setup — the ESS assistant injection is the bit that catches everyone out when they're not on Windows.

Quick question for @GoldenNomad — are you using VE.Configure 3 specifically, or trying to do it through VictronConnect? Because the .rvsc files are a VEConfigure thing and that software is genuinely Windows-only, no way around it really.

What worked for me: running a lightweight Windows VM (VMware Fusion on Mac handles it fine) and connecting the MK3-USB adapter through USB passthrough to the VM. Bit fiddly to set up but once it's running it's solid.

Worth checking which firmware version your MultiPlus is on too — some older versions are picky about which assistant files they'll accept. What's the model/kVA rating you're working with?

What actually saved me was running a lightweight Windows instance via Parallels on my MacBook, with just VEConfigure dropped in. No full Windows licence needed if you're creative about it.
