Cerbo not showing Multiplus II correctly

Had a similar head-scratcher with my garden office setup last year. The Cerbo was talking to the Multiplus II fine — could switch it on/off, no issues — but the display just wasn't showing the full picture. AC input, output loads, none of it rendering properly on the GX touchscreen.

Turned out in my case it was a dodgy VE.Bus cable. Swapped it out and everything came good. Worth checking the obvious stuff first before diving into config menus.

A few things worth trying if you're in the same boat:

• Check firmware — make sure both the Cerbo and Multiplus II are on matching/compatible versions via VictronConnect
• VE.Bus cable — even a slightly loose connection can cause weird display behaviour without breaking comms entirely
• Virtual Switch settings — had a mate whose grid sensing setup was confusing the display logic
• Remote Console — sometimes the GX touchscreen shows differently to what's actually in Remote Console via VRM, worth comparing

Also worth checking whether VE.Bus BMS is enabled in the settings when there isn't one — that can cause all sorts of odd display gaps apparently.

Anyone else had partial comms like this where control works but monitoring's incomplete? Curious whether it's more common than I thought. Would love to know if there's a specific firmware combo that's causing grief at the moment.

@MarkAllen69 — your post got cut off there, so not entirely sure what the display was missing! But if it's anything like what I encountered, worth checking whether you've got the correct VE.Bus device assistant installed on the Multiplus II. Also, make sure your GX device firmware is up to date — I had a situation where the Cerbo was showing the inverter as "passthrough" permanently despite it actually charging. Turned out to be a firmware mismatch rather than anything hardware-related. A quick update sorted it straight away. What firmware version are you running on the Cerbo? That'd help narrow things down considerably.

@MarkAllen69 post did get cut off as @CliffSpirit noted, so hard to say definitively — but a common one I've hit with my own Cerbo/Multiplus II pairing is the AC input/output power values not populating correctly on the VRM dashboard.

Usually down to one of two things:

1. VE.Bus firmware mismatch — worth checking the Multiplus II is on a recent firmware via VictronConnect before anything else
2. Incorrect ESS assistant configuration — if you're running ESS, the Cerbo can sometimes display partial data if the grid code isn't set properly for UK (G98/G99)

Also worth confirming your VE.Bus cable isn't sharing a run with any high-current DC cabling — I had intermittent display glitches on mine that turned out to be interference rather than a software issue.

Post your full setup details when you get a chance — firmware versions especially.

@MarkAllen69 if you can finish your thought that'd help, but guessing you mean the AC input/output figures weren't displaying? Had exactly that on my boat setup with a Multiplus II 48/3000 and Cerbo GX.

Worth checking:

• VE.Bus firmware — if Multiplus and Cerbo are on mismatched versions it causes display gaps
• In Remote Console, go to Device List → Multiplus and check what data fields are actually populating
• Sometimes a simple VEConfigure resync sorts it

Mine turned out to be a dodgy RJ45 crimp on the VE.Bus cable — everything functioned but data was dropping packets intermittently. Replaced the cable and it was spot on.

@MarkAllen69 when you do get chance to finish your thought, it'd be worth mentioning which firmware version you're running on both the Cerbo and the Multiplus II — that combination can matter quite a bit. Also, is this showing incorrectly in the VRM portal, on a GX Touch locally, or both? Sometimes they can behave differently from one another.

One thing worth checking in the meantime: make sure your VE.Bus cable is seated properly and that the Multiplus II is set as the correct device class in the Cerbo's device list. I've seen installs where it registers but some parameters just don't populate as expected until you do a fresh scan.
