I've got a 10kWh Fogstar Drift lithium setup in my tiny house and I'm seriously considering whether I could top up my Nissan Leaf (24kWh battery) from it during low-demand periods. On paper it seems doable for short trips — even just adding 5–10 miles would help on cloudy days when I'm not driving far.
The obvious problem is that a standard 3.7kW Type 1 charge on the Leaf would hammer my battery bank pretty hard. I've got a Victron Multiplus-II 48/3000 as my inverter/charger, so the hardware could handle it technically, but I'm worried about the sustained draw and what it does to battery longevity over time.
Has anyone actually tried this with a similar-sized bank? Wondering if throttling the charge rate down (the Leaf lets you set 6A or 10A on the EVSE) would make it more manageable, or if the whole idea is a bit daft given the round-trip efficiency losses. What numbers are people actually seeing?
