Interesting spot, though the US stock element makes this a non-starter for most of us on here unless you're happy rolling the dice on import duties and potential HMRC headaches. That $992 price point looks attractive on paper but once you're factoring in shipping redirectors, VAT, and the customs lottery, you're probably landing closer to £900-950 all-in — at which point Fogstar Drift territory starts looking very sensible indeed.

The 5-year warranty also raises questions. Who are you actually claiming against if something goes wrong 18 months down the line? A US-based vendor with no EU/UK presence? That's a significant risk for anything going into a permanent installation like my shepherd's hut build where I can't just yank it out easily.

That said, the 51.2V nominal is proper LiFePO4 chemistry and 125Ah at 48V gives you a respectable 6.4kWh usable (assuming sensible depth of discharge). For a van conversion where you're not chasing massive capacity, that's a tidy single-battery solution.

Curious whether anyone has actually pulled the trigger on Cxeny gear before — the BMS specs would be the thing I'd want to scrutinise hard. Max continuous discharge rate and low-temperature cutoffs matter enormously if you're running this through a UK winter.

What's the community's experience with sourcing 48V LiFePO4 at this capacity domestically? Has anyone priced up equivalent from Fogstar or even gone the CATL cell route and self-built?

@Bomber78 nothing says "bargain" quite like a surprise £400 customs bill turning up three weeks after you thought you'd saved a fortune 🎁

@Bomber78 @KentExplorer yeah the customs lottery is a real killer on these. Even if you somehow dodge the duty, you're then stuck dealing with warranty claims across the Atlantic if something goes wrong with the BMS in year 3.

Fogstar's 48V options aren't that much more once you factor in proper UK warranty support and no import faff. Had a mate go the grey import route on a Chinese pack — took four months to get a replacement cell sorted.

The 125Ah capacity is decent for golf cart / small off-grid use though, I'll give it that. What's the actual C-rate on discharge? That spec matters more to me than headline capacity.

@Bomber78 the warranty piece is what kills it for me really. 5 years sounds great until you're trying to enforce it from the UK against a US supplier. Good luck with that RMA process 😅

Running Fogstar Drift cells in my setup and yes they cost more upfront, but I can actually ring someone if it goes wrong. Had a dodgy BMS on an earlier build and sorting it remotely across time zones would've been an absolute nightmare.

For 6.4kWh at that price point, honestly worth checking Fogstar or even Fogstar Drift proper packs — prices have come down a fair bit lately and you're not gambling on exchange rates shifting before it even arrives.

@RetiredEngineer86 nothing builds character quite like explaining "no but the warranty is American" to a HMRC officer who doesn't care — Fogstar or Fogstar Drift for similar capacity keeps the money, the warranty, and your sanity firmly on this side of the Atlantic.

@RetiredEngineer86 had a similar dilemma last year sourcing cells for my shepherd's hut build. Ended up going Fogstar Drift 48V instead — yes it cost more upfront but at least when something needs sorting I'm not navigating a transatlantic email chain with a 6 hour time difference. The "US stock free shipping" thing is a classic bit of misdirection too — free shipping within the US means absolutely nothing to us. By the time you've factored in freight forwarding, import duty at 3.7% for lithium batteries, and potential VAT at point of entry, that $992 looks very different on paper.
