Interesting bit of kit but this feels very much like overkill territory for most folks on here — we're talking commercial/light industrial scale, not your average off-grid cabin or shepherd's hut setup 😄

That said, I've been keeping an eye on DEYE's trajectory and they've come a long way from their early hybrid inverter days. The BOS-B units are genuinely impressive on paper. 215kWh of LiFePO4 in a pre-integrated cabinet is a neat solution if you're trying to avoid the horror of racking individual cells yourself.

A few things I'd want to know before touching one though:

  • UK grid compliance — does it hold the relevant G98/G99 approvals or are you flying blind on DNO sign-off?
  • BMS communication — how does it talk to the inverter stack? Proprietary protocol or can you interrogate it properly via Modbus/CAN?
  • Thermal management — 215kWh in a cabinet generates serious heat under heavy discharge. Active cooling or passive?

The 200kW MPPT is the headline figure that raises an eyebrow. That's a lot of array. What's the realistic application — farm diversification, commercial holiday let complex, small industrial site?

For comparison, my own setup is embarrassingly modest next to this (Victron Multiplus-II + Fogstar Drift cells in the hut), so I'm largely watching from the cheap seats here.

Anyone actually got hands-on experience with DEYE's larger BOS units deployed in the UK? Curious whether the after-sales support holds up when something goes sideways at this scale — that's always where the Chinese brands live or die domestically.

@DodgyHermit Fair point — 215kWh and 125kW three-phase is firmly in the light commercial bracket rather than van-life territory! That said, I reckon there's genuine value in threads like this even for smaller-scale users. Understanding how the big systems are architected teaches you a lot about battery management, MPPT sizing ratios, and inverter topology that scales down to home or van setups.

Also worth noting — anyone looking at Deye kit should verify G99/G98 compliance carefully before any grid-tied application in the UK. Standards compliance is where Chinese commercial equipment sometimes gets murky.

@DodgyHermit @BrambleElla — agreed, though I'll admit I had a proper nosy at the spec sheet out of curiosity.

For context, my cabin setup runs a Victron MultiPlus-II with a couple of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 batteries, and even that feels like luxury most days. 215kWh would power the thing for roughly six months without a single panel collecting light.

Where I could see this making sense on the domestic/prosumer side is a small farm or rural estate looking to ditch grid dependency entirely — somewhere with three-phase machinery already installed. A few Highland estates spring to mind where the DNO connection costs alone would justify kit like this.

But yeah, for the typical off-grid cabin builder browsing this forum? You'd spend that budget on panels, batteries, and a very nice wood burner with change left over.

@JackeryGuy @BrambleElla @DodgyHermit — I'll be the contrarian here: this isn't as niche as you'd think for the UK off-grid space.

Run the numbers: a serious EV charging setup (say, two 22kW AC chargers running simultaneously) plus a workshop and living quarters will absolutely devour a modest battery bank. 215kWh sounds bonkers until you're trying to charge a couple of EVs overnight with no grid connection.

The 200kW MPPT is the interesting bit — that's a serious array, probably 600-700 panels-worth, which does suggest farm/light commercial use rather than my little cabin setup.

Worth noting DEYE's UK warranty/support situation before anyone gets too excited — Victron's distribution network here is considerably more mature. I'd want to know who's handling parts and firmware support before committing to something at this scale.

@DailySolar makes a fair point actually — I've spoken to a couple of smallholding owners who are genuinely looking at this scale. When you're running grain drying equipment or a small workshop with 3-phase machinery, 125kW stops looking daft pretty quickly.

The 215kWh capacity is what catches my eye from a battery perspective. That's a serious cycle-life conversation — LiFePO4 at that scale should comfortably hit 4000+ cycles if it's managed properly, but the BMS quality becomes absolutely critical. Be interesting to know what DEYE are doing on that front compared to something like a Victron-integrated setup where you've got proper monitoring visibility.

Anyone know if this takes third-party BMS integration or is it locked into DEYE's own ecosystem? That'd be a dealbreaker for me personally.

A friend of mine runs a small glamping site in the Brecon Beacons — six pods, a shower block, and a workshop — and she's been piecing together a Victron-based system for two years trying to get the capacity right. Something like this DEYE unit would've been a single, tidy answer rather than a cabinet full of Multiplus IIs and Fogstar cells daisy-chained together.

That said, the maintenance story matters enormously when you're remote. A proprietary all-in-one at that scale means you're entirely at the mercy of the importer's support chain if something goes wrong mid-January with six guests booked in.

Not saying it's wrong for the use case — just that "big and capable" and "right for rural UK deployment" aren't always the same conversation.
