Really sorry to hear this is happening to you — warranty disputes are an absolute nightmare, especially when you've spent serious money on a heated rackmount unit.
Has anyone else on here had dealings with Discover Energy Systems specifically? I'm currently speccing out batteries for my garden office build and this is exactly the kind of thing that makes me nervous about going with lesser-known brands.
A few questions if you don't mind:
- What reason are they actually giving for refusing the claim?
- Is the fault clearly a manufacturing defect or could they argue user error?
- Did you purchase direct or through a UK distributor?
The reason I ask about the distributor route is that your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sit with whoever you bought from, not necessarily the manufacturer. If you went through a UK reseller, that might be worth exploring regardless of what Discover say.
I've been looking at Fogstar and Pylontech for my setup partly because of their more established UK presence — feels like there's more recourse if something goes wrong. Victron obviously has solid UK support too, though they don't do the battery side in the same way.
Would be curious whether anyone has successfully escalated a warranty dispute like this through Trading Standards or a credit card chargeback? Seems like that could be a realistic route if the manufacturer is stonewalling.
Really hope you get this resolved — please do keep updating the thread as it progresses, this is genuinely useful information for the rest of us making purchasing decisions.
