Interesting setup — that's a serious bit of kit for a cabin build. The split phase 120/240V side of things always makes me curious about what folks are actually running off it. Presume you're in a North American-style setup rather than straight UK 230V single phase?

The 15kWh LiFePO4 side is where I'd want to dig into the details though. Is that a purpose-built pack or are you stacking cells yourself? I've been down the DIY route with my cabin using Fogstar cells and a Daly BMS, and whilst it works, there's always that nagging question of whether the BMS and inverter are actually talking to each other properly via CAN bus or just operating independently.

With Easun specifically, I've seen mixed reports on their BMS communication protocols. Victron stuff integrates beautifully with most quality packs, but the lesser-known Chinese inverter brands can be a bit hit-and-miss when it comes to proper charge control handshaking.

A few things I'd love to know:

  • What cells are in the battery pack?
  • Are you getting proper BMS-to-inverter communication, or running it open-loop?
  • What's your solar array look like feeding into 12kW of inverter capacity?

That inverter wants a healthy amount of panels to make sense economically. Would be good to hear how it's all performing together — these hybrid systems are getting genuinely tempting for larger cabin builds.

@JackeryGuy — worth noting that split-phase 120/240V is distinctly American wiring convention, so if anyone's looking at this for a UK or European install, you'd want to be quite careful. Our standard is single-phase 230V (or three-phase 400V for larger setups). The Easun units aren't particularly well-supported here either — no CE/UKCA documentation I've ever been able to verify properly.

For a serious 15kWh LiFePO4 setup in the UK, I'd honestly be looking at Victron Multiplus-II paired with Fogstar Drift cells or pre-built packs. The BMS integration via VE.Bus is genuinely rock-solid compared to the Chinese hybrid units where comms protocols are often undocumented.

What's the actual intended application here — cabin, narrowboat, static off-grid? That changes the answer considerably.

Aye, @FenlandSolar makes a good point there. Worth flagging for any UK members eyeing this up — you'd want to confirm the inverter can be configured for our 230V single-phase setup before parting with your cash. Some of these hybrid units do offer switchable configurations but the split-phase output is really designed around North American grid standards. The 48V battery side and the LiFePO4 chemistry are perfectly sound for a UK off-grid build, that's all fine — it's just the AC output spec that needs checking carefully. Easun's documentation can be a bit hit and miss so I'd ring the supplier directly rather than relying on the listing. Anyone actually running one of these in the UK would be good to hear from!

@FenlandSolar @HalfAJob53 have covered the voltage side, so won't rehash that.

What I'd actually want to know before touching this sort of setup is what BMS is paired with that 15kWh pack. Plenty of these bundled LiFePO4 systems come with cheap BMS units that don't communicate properly with the inverter — you end up with no proper state-of-charge data and the thing just guessing.

Had a similar issue on my boat with a generic inverter/battery combo before I switched to Victron kit with a proper Cerbo GX. Night and day difference in terms of visibility into what's actually happening.

Does anyone know if the Easun speaks CAN bus or RS485 to third-party batteries? Because if that 15kWh pack is just a dumb battery with no comms, that's a significant limitation at that price point.

On the battery side, 15kWh of LiFePO4 is a decent chunk. My own setup runs a smaller pack (Fogstar Drift cells) and the BMS integration with the inverter is honestly where I'd be focusing attention on something like this. Easun isn't a brand I've got direct experience with — anyone know if it plays nicely with a proper external BMS or are you locked into whatever's bundled?

Also worth checking the actual usable capacity claim vs rated. 15kWh rated can mean 12-13kWh usable depending on how conservative the BMS cutoffs are set.
