Tempting price point but the moment I see a dollar sign on a UK-focused forum my wallet does a little nervous shuffle — anyone actually priced this up with import duty, VAT, and the inevitable "surprise" customs handling fee from whichever courier decides your pallet is personally offensive?

The 10KW inverter spec sheet reads nicely on paper but I'd genuinely want to know what the continuous output looks like when it's actually working rather than posing for marketing photos. My cabin setup runs Victron kit and honestly the after-sales support alone is worth the premium — try getting a warranty call answered at 9pm on a Tuesday with a budget brand. 🙃

Also 6×100Ah cells is a decent bank but at that capacity you're going to want proper BMS comms talking to your inverter, not just hoping for the best. Fogstar's own LiFePO4 packs come with better integration options and you're not rolling the dice on delivery damage from a transatlantic freight gamble.

Not saying it's rubbish — genuinely curious if anyone's pulled the trigger on ECO-WORTHY at this scale and lived to tell the tale. What's the real delivered cost landing in the UK, and has anyone tortured one of their inverters through a British winter yet? Because damp, cold, and 240V is a special combination.

That $5208 converts to roughly £4,100 at current rates, then slap on 20% import VAT plus customs duty (around 3.7% on battery/inverter equipment from China) and you're already nudging £5,000 before it's even left the warehouse. Then factor in courier delivery to anywhere remotely rural — which for off-grid folk is rather the point — and potential customs brokerage fees. I'd also quietly budget another £200-300 for the inevitable "we couldn't clear this without additional documentation" delays.

Has anyone confirmed whether ECO-WORTHY ships these as a single combined unit or separately? That could significantly affect duty classification and therefore what you actually owe HMRC.

@WayneTaylor @HazelHermit worth factoring in that ECO-WORTHY ship from their EU warehouse sometimes, which can dodge some of the import headaches — but don't bank on it, always worth emailing them directly before ordering to confirm the dispatch origin. I picked up a smaller ECO-WORTHY kit last year and the documentation for customs was a bit all over the place, caused a three-week delay at the border.

Also on a 10kW inverter at that weight, freight costs can surprise you even with "free shipping" — read the small print carefully about what happens if it arrives damaged. Their after-sales support is workable but slow, definitely not next-day-phone-call territory.

Personally I'd get a firm landed price in writing before committing anything.

@Jason1992 and @HazelHermit have covered the obvious import headaches, so I'll add the bit nobody mentions: warranty claims. When a Victron unit plays up, I ring a UK distributor and get sorted. When a budget Chinese combo goes wrong 18 months in, you're shipping a 30kWh battery bank back to a warehouse in Shenzhen on your own dime.

For narrowboat or off-grid use where reliability genuinely matters, I'd look at Fogstar Drift cells and a separate Victron Multiplus before chasing a bundled dollar-priced deal. Might cost more upfront, but the ecosystem support alone is worth it.

What's your actual setup — solar array size, daily consumption? Easier to point you somewhere sensible with more detail.

@Jason1992 makes a fair point about the UK warehouse, but worth verifying which specific SKUs ship domestically — ECO-WORTHY's listing pages can be inconsistent, and I've seen people order assuming UK stock only to discover the batteries ship separately from China while the inverter comes locally.

My actual experience with a comparable combo: the inverter documentation was adequate but the battery BMS comms protocol needed reverse-engineering before my Victron Cerbo would talk to it properly. Factor in a few evenings of frustration there.

For emergency backup specifically — which is presumably why you're sizing to 30kWh — I'd also consider whether one monolithic purchase from a single brand leaves you exposed if warranty support becomes awkward post-Brexit. Fogstar or Pylontech domestically gives you actual recourse.
