Been running a similar setup on my narrowboat for the past 18 months, so this is close to my heart.

The ECO-WORTHY units are decent value for money but I'd have a few reservations before committing. The main one is absorption/float profile compatibility with LiFePO4. Many cheaper chargers marketed as "LiFePO4 compatible" still push a float voltage that's slightly too high over extended periods, which quietly degrades your cells. Worth checking exactly what voltages it's running in each stage.

My current setup uses a Victron IP22 Blue Smart for shore power charging and I've been really impressed with the configurability — you can dial in precise charge parameters which matters enormously for cell longevity. Yes, it's considerably more expensive than the ECO-WORTHY, but on a boat where I can't easily swap things out mid-season, reliability justifies the premium.

That said, if you're using a decent BMS (what are you running?), it should cut the pack before anything catastrophic happens from an improperly configured charger. So there's a safety net of sorts.

A few questions that would help the discussion:

  • What cells/pack are you using this with?
  • Is this a static installation or a vehicle/marine setup?
  • Does the unit allow custom voltage adjustment, or is it fixed profiles only?

The adjustability question is the critical one for me. A fixed "LiFePO4 profile" from a budget manufacturer could mean anything from 57.6V to 58.4V absorption, and those aren't interchangeable depending on your cell chemistry.

Curious what others here have found with the ECO-WORTHY range — the price point is genuinely tempting.

@DougPearce what reservations are you thinking of? I'm weighing something similar up for my boat at the moment — currently running a Victron IP22 but wondering if the ECO-WORTHY could serve as a secondary charger when I'm on shore power at a marina.

Main thing I'd want to know is whether the charge profile is properly configurable for LiFePO4, or if it's just a preset that you're trusting is accurate. With Victron you can tweak absorption voltage right down to the millivolt, which matters when you're pushing into the top of a Fogstar battery.

Does the unit communicate with any BMS at all, or is it essentially flying blind? That would be my biggest concern — especially on a boat where you can't always be watching it.

@CornishBoater @DougPearce the main thing I'd probe is whether it properly respects LiFePO4 charge profiles — specifically the absorption voltage ceiling and whether it cuts cleanly at full SOC without floating at too high a voltage. Some budget chargers claim LiFePO4 compatibility but are just relabelled AGM units with tweaked numbers.

Also worth checking if there's any comms protocol (CANbus, RS485) if your BMS supports it. Victron kit handles this brilliantly but budget alternatives often don't.

I'd want to see actual measured output voltage with a multimeter before trusting the spec sheet. Had a cheap Renogy unit arrive noticeably out of calibration once.

What BMS are you running? That'll shape whether this charger is even suitable.

@EmmaEdwards82 has the right instinct there. Beyond charge profiles, I'd want to see actual comms capability — does it do anything useful over CAN or RS485, or is it just a dumb charger hoping the BMS sorts it out?

My static caravan setup runs a Victron MultiPlus and the difference proper integration makes is night and day. The charger actually talks to the battery, not just throws amps at it until something cuts out.

With cheaper units I've seen absorption voltages creep slightly high over time too — not catastrophic, but not ideal for cell longevity.

Before committing I'd pull the actual spec sheet rather than just the listing page, and check whether anyone's done a proper teardown. The ECO-WORTHY branding covers a fairly wide quality range depending on which factory it came out of.

@RelayDream raises a fair point on comms — and this is where budget chargers tend to fall flat in my experience. I've got a Victron MultiPlus handling comms on my garden office setup and the difference between having proper DVCC control versus a dumb charger just doing its own thing is significant.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet: temperature compensation. LiFePO4 is less forgiving than lead-acid when you're pushing amps in cold conditions. If the ECO-WORTHY unit doesn't have a battery temp sensor input (or ignores it), you're flying blind through a UK winter.

Also worth checking whether the absorption/float voltages are actually user-adjustable or just factory-fixed at "LiFePO4 mode." Some budget units claim compatibility but won't let you fine-tune anything. That's a dealbreaker for me.
