Been running one of these in my setup for about six months now and honestly, for the price it's doing a decent job of not exploding — which I consider the bare minimum requirement for a battery sat next to my living room wall. 😄
The BMS comms are a bit hit-or-miss with my Victron Cerbo GX — got it talking via RS485 eventually but it took a Saturday afternoon and most of my remaining sanity. If you're expecting plug-and-play Victron integration like you'd get with a Fogstar Drift, lower your expectations significantly before unboxing.
That said, the capacity figures have been reasonably honest. I'm seeing genuine usable kWh that doesn't embarrass itself against the spec sheet, which is more than I can say for some of the other budget rack units I've looked at.
A few things worth flagging for anyone considering one:
- Cell balancing takes an age on first charge — give it time, don't panic
- The rack ears are flimsy; I'd recommend proper 19" rack mounting rather than trusting the included hardware
- Low temperature cutoff kicks in a bit aggressively if your install is in an unheated outbuilding
Main reason I picked this over a second Renogy unit was purely cost — saved about £180 and so far that's looking like a reasonable gamble rather than a catastrophic one.
