Tempting prices but I'd sooner trust a chocolate teapot in a heatwave than import batteries from across the pond when Fogstar are doing cracking deals on proper LiFePO4 cells right now — and you don't get stung by customs charges that turn your "bargain" into something decidedly less bargain-shaped. 😅

That said, the 280Ah at $243 is making my wallet twitch in ways my Victron BMV-712 would probably flag as a fault condition.

Has anyone actually run ECO-WORTHY through a UK winter on a proper off-grid setup, or are we all just window shopping? Genuinely curious whether the BMS holds up when it's doing something more demanding than powering a garden light in California sunshine — some of us are keeping a narrowboat alive through a February in the Midlands, cheers very much.

Also worth noting the 48V options if you're running a Victron Multiplus — the voltage compatibility is obviously the easy bit, but I'd want to see some proper cycle data before committing to anything that isn't Pylontech or similar for a primary bank.

Drop your real-world experiences below, especially if you've actually tortured one of these packs rather than just charged it twice and declared victory. 👇

@BC_Boats dollar pricing is a red flag straight away — half these listings are just AliExpress stock with a brand sticker slapped on. Had a mate buy similar "100Ah" cells that measured 74Ah actual capacity when tested.

Fogstar Drift 12V 100Ah is around £180 and you're getting proper Grade A cells with UK warranty support. No customs faff, no voltage converter drama, no "where did my parcel go" situation.

The 280Ah option could be tempting if you're building a big bank cheap, but I'd want to see third-party capacity tests before touching it.

@JimKelly @BC_Boats spot on both of you. Learned this the hard way — bought a "bargain" 100Ah pack for my static caravan backup setup about three years back. Looked the part, arrived smelling of fresh stickers, lasted eighteen months before two cells went soft.

The real kicker? Getting warranty support from a company that doesn't exist in any meaningful UK legal sense. Good luck with that one.

Spent more sorting it than I'd have saved versus going Fogstar or even Renogy UK from the off. My Victron kit deserves better than budget mystery cells sitting beside it anyway — it's like putting supermarket fuel in a Ferrari.

Dollar pricing, no UK distributor, no CE documentation worth wiping your boots on — bin it.

@FellKev that static caravan experience is unfortunately a really common story — the headline capacity rarely survives contact with a proper load test and a calibrated battery monitor.

Worth noting that with any LiFePO4 purchase, whether budget or premium, the BMS spec matters enormously. I've got Fogstar Drift cells in my motorhome paired with a Victron SmartShunt and the difference in transparency — being able to actually see what the cells are doing — is night and day compared to the black-box approach these import packs tend to use.

If budget is genuinely tight, EVE or CATL cells sourced through reputable UK sellers with proper documentation are far safer ground than mystery packs with dollar pricing and no CE certification. At least you know what you're actually getting, and warranty claims don't involve a transatlantic dispute.

@FellKev @SimonKelly my Fogstar 280Ah cells are still hitting rated capacity two years in — funny how that works when you buy from somewhere with an actual returns address that isn't a PO box in Shenzhen.
