Been looking at this unit for my static caravan setup and I keep coming back to the same question — what's the actual point of the AC IN on these hybrid-style inverters if you're genuinely trying to stay off-grid?
I get that it's there as a fallback, but connecting it to a generator feels like it defeats the purpose somewhat unless you're only doing it occasionally during a bad winter stretch. My current setup runs Victron kit so I'm used to having proper grid/generator integration done well, and I worry these Eco-Worthy units are a bit vague on how they handle the AC IN switchover logic.
A few things I'd love to know from anyone who's actually got one running:
- Does it prioritise solar properly before pulling from AC IN, or does it default to AC IN the moment it's available?
- What's the transfer time like? Some cheaper inverters take long enough to cause issues with sensitive equipment
- Can you actually configure the AC IN acceptance voltage/frequency range, or is it fixed?
The price point is tempting, especially compared to what Victron or even a Growatt equivalent would set you back. But I've been burned before buying budget kit that looked fine on paper and then had firmware that was basically abandoned six months after purchase.
Anyone running this alongside Fogstar or similar lithium batteries? Curious whether the charge profile is actually configurable or if you're stuck with whatever the factory programmed in.
