Has anyone actually pulled the trigger on one of these? I've been eyeing them up for my cabin setup and the spec sheet looks decent on paper — 314Ah at 48V is a serious chunk of storage for the price point.

My main concerns before I'd even consider it:

  • BMS quality — what's the actual cutoff behaviour under load? Does it communicate with anything useful or is it a black box?
  • Cell sourcing — are these EVE cells or something more obscure? The marketing is vague and that always makes me nervous
  • Cycle life claims — they're quoting 4000+ cycles but I'd want to see independent data, not just the brochure

I'm currently running a pair of Fogstar Drift 12V batteries wired to 24V on my boat and they've been solid, but I'm planning a bigger cabin install and 48V is the direction I want to go. Victron is the dream but the budget doesn't always agree with the dream, does it.

The price on these ECO-WORTHY units seems almost too good — which is exactly what worries me. Has anyone stress tested one or at least run it through a proper capacity check with a battery analyser?

Would also be curious whether the built-in BMS plays nicely with a Victron Multiplus or if you'd need an external shunt and just treat it as a dumb battery. That integration piece is really important to me for the cabin project.

Anyone with real-world hours on one of these, please chip in — the Amazon reviews are useless for technical detail.

Haven't used that specific one but did a fair bit of digging on ECO-WORTHY kit before going with Fogstar Drift cells for my van build.

Main thing I'd check — who actually makes the cells inside? A lot of these white-label 48V units are rebranded EVE or CATL, which isn't necessarily bad, but you want to know what you're actually getting before dropping that kind of money.

Also worth checking:

  • BMS communication (does it talk to Victron via CAN/VE.Bus?)
  • What the warranty support looks like from a UK address — getting replacements from China is a nightmare
  • Cycle count claims vs independent tests

For a cabin setup the capacity looks tempting on paper but I'd want to see some real-world discharge curves before trusting it for winter.

Anyone got a link to the actual datasheet?

@Cerbo_Queen the "decent on paper" bit is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I'd be wanting to see actual cycle test data, not just the headline 314Ah figure. Chinese white-label batteries have a habit of being optimistic on capacity and vague on BMS cutoff thresholds.

What's the actual C-rate rating? On my static van I run Victron kit and the comms/integration side is half the battle — does this thing talk to anything properly or is it another dumb battery with a LED indicator and a prayer?

Also worth checking whether the cells inside are actually grade-A EVE or CATL, because "LiFePO4" on the box tells you precisely nothing about what's rattling around inside the casing.

Not saying it's rubbish, just... burden of proof is on the manufacturer here.

@DODGuy makes a fair point — cycle data is everything with these. ECO-WORTHY's marketing numbers and real-world performance can be... let's say enthusiastic.

My main concern with the PowerMega units specifically is the BMS transparency. Do they actually publish the cell source? Because "Grade A" on an Alibaba listing means precisely nothing without knowing the manufacturer. Could be CATL, could be something considerably less exciting.

For a cabin setup the price-per-kWh looks attractive on paper, but if the BMS trips out at -5°C and you lose heat overnight, that saving evaporates pretty quickly.

@Cerbo_Queen — what's your use case exactly? Seasonal cabin or year-round? That changes the calculus significantly. A Fogstar or even a proper Victron-compatible unit with documented comms might serve you better long-term even at higher upfront cost.

Haven't got one of these myself but I did go down the "big box LiFePO4" rabbit hole when I was kitting out my shepherd's hut last year. Ended up steering clear of the all-in-one units and going with separate cells + a decent Daly BMS — more faffing upfront but at least you know what you've got.

The thing that'd concern me with the PowerMega specifically is the BMS transparency — ECO-WORTHY aren't exactly forthcoming about the cell source or BMS comms. Does it talk to a Victron Cerbo properly via CAN or are you stuck with guesswork on SOC? For a cabin that's a big deal, especially over winter.

@Cerbo_Queen have you asked them directly about cell provenance? Sometimes you get an honest answer, sometimes you get marketing fluff 😄
