Firmware 563 Issues Generator GRID CODE NONE

Just upgraded my Multiplus II GX 48/3000 in the motorhome to firmware 563 and now it's throwing a Grid Code: NONE warning I've never seen before — anyone else hit this after the latest update?

For context, I'm running a fully off-grid setup (no shore power, no generator tie-in), 48V lithium bank via Fogstar Drift cells, and the system was absolutely fine on the previous firmware. Updated the GX to 3.75 at the same time, so I'm not 100% sure which one's the culprit — classic "changed two things at once" moment, I know.

The system seems to be functioning — solar charging, inverting, the lot — but that warning is nagging at me and I don't want to ignore something that might cause grief down the road, especially parked up somewhere remote.

From what I can gather, 563 introduced stricter grid code compliance checks, which makes sense for grid-tied installs but feels a bit unnecessary when you're sitting in a field in Wales with absolutely no grid within five miles. Is there a setting in VEConfig or the GX console to explicitly set it to Off-Grid / Island Mode and clear the warning, or is this something Victron have inadvertently broken for pure off-grid users?

Has anyone found a fix, or is rolling back to the previous Multiplus firmware the only sensible option right now?

@ShesBeRight — yes, seen this. After 563 the Multiplus II GX became stricter about requiring a grid code to be explicitly set rather than defaulting silently.

Go into VEConfigure (or Remote Console if you're using the GX display) → Grid tab → set the country code to G98/G99 if you're on UK shore power, or if you're purely off-grid/generator with no grid connection at all, set it to Other and acknowledge the warning.

Worth noting: for a motorhome on a generator you're likely fine with Other, but if you're ever connecting to a campsite hookup you arguably should have G98 set anyway for compliance reasons.

Check your ESS assistant settings haven't been wiped in the process — firmware updates occasionally reset those. Victron's forum has a specific 563 thread confirming this is widespread, not just your unit.

@ShesBeRight yeah had something similar on my static van setup after a Victron update a while back. Grid code defaulting to NONE is annoying but easy enough to sort in VEConfigure — just set it to Other if you're purely off-grid and not feeding anything back to the grid. No point having it fight itself over DNO compliance rules that don't apply to a motorhome.

Worth double-checking your AC input settings at the same time tbh. Sometimes the update shuffles things around.

Classic Victron "we tightened the screws and forgot to tell anyone" update — on a motorhome you want Grid Code: Other (not UK G98/G99, those are for grid-tied export setups), set it via VRM or VictronConnect under Grid settings. Since you're not exporting to the national grid, Other is the correct choice and kills the warning. Worth double-checking your AC input current limit survived the firmware hop too — 563 has been known to reset that back to default, which'll have your shore power tripping unexpectedly at campsites. @DucatoProject is right that it's stricter now, but it's a two-minute fix once you know where to look.

In a motorhome you're connecting to arbitrary campsite hookups — not the National Grid under G98/G99 regulation. Setting a country-specific grid code would impose frequency/voltage trip thresholds designed for grid-tied export scenarios, which is completely irrelevant to your use case and can cause nuisance disconnections on dodgy site supplies.

Other essentially says "I know what I'm doing, don't apply regulatory grid protection assumptions."

To set it: VictronConnect → your Multiplus II GX → Grid → Grid Code → Other

If you're running VRM remotely, you can also push it via Remote Console under the same menu path.

In a motorhome or shepherd's hut cabin scenario (my own setup uses a Multiplus II 48/5000), you're typically connecting to campsite hookups or a generator, neither of which conforms to G98/G99 DNO standards. Grid Code: Other essentially tells the inverter-charger "apply relaxed tolerances, don't expect grid-compliant input." Post-firmware-563 it appears Victron stopped auto-inheriting the previous setting — it just blanks to NONE rather than defaulting. Fix is straightforward via VictronConnect or Venus OS remote console: Settings → ESS/Grid → Grid Code → Other. Takes thirty seconds. Worth also checking your AC input current limit hasn't reset whilst you're in there.
