Classic Victron: the firmware lottery you never asked to play. 🎰
Had almost the exact same headache last winter on the narrowboat — MultiPlus arrived with a firmware version that sat in some sort of weird limbo between what VictronConnect would acknowledge and what was actually stable. Couldn't go backwards, couldn't go forwards without breaking AC input functionality, just... stuck.
The 2715563 situation sounds painfully familiar — you're essentially held hostage by a release that exists in the wild on physical hardware but hasn't been formally published. Victron's firmware versioning has always felt like it was designed by someone who actively dislikes narrowboat owners and shepherd's hut dwellers specifically.
A few things worth trying if you haven't already:
- Victron Professional portal — sometimes firmware versions appear there before they hit the public VictronConnect rollout
- Contact your dealer — if you bought through a Victron authorised distributor in the UK, they can sometimes request firmware directly from Victron
- Victron Community forum — the devs do actually lurk there and occasionally drop files in threads, proper old-school style
The AC input issue with 564 s98 is a known problem or a new discovery? Because if it's documented somewhere that'd at least give you ammunition when you contact support.
Genuinely baffles me that a company charging MultiPlus money ships units with firmware that has no clean upgrade path. My Fogstar batteries arrived better documented than this.
Anyone else currently running a unit that came out the box on 563? Curious whether this is a batch issue or if Victron are just having a moment again.
