Never heard of that brand before so naturally I did what any sensible person does at 2am — fell down a rabbit hole of Chinese inverter forums for three hours instead of sleeping.

From what I can gather, LF SGP seems to be one of those brands that exists in that murky grey area between "surprisingly decent" and "exciting paperweight" — and at 10kw off-grid you're really not wanting to find out which one you've got after you've wired it into your setup.

For context, I'm running a Victron Multiplus-II in my static caravan and the peace of mind alone is worth the premium. Support, documentation, a community that's actually heard of it — priceless when something inevitably goes sideways at a bank holiday weekend.

That said, I get it — 10kw of Victron kit would require me to sell at least one kidney and probably a goat. So if budget is the driving factor, have you looked at:

  • Growatt — reasonably well supported in the UK
  • Voltronic/Axpert — massive community, parts everywhere
  • MPP Solar — similar story

The key question with any of these lesser-known units is: can you actually get support or spares in the UK when it inevitably throws a fault code at you?

Anyone on here actually running LF SGP kit? Genuinely curious whether this is a hidden gem or whether someone's about to have a very expensive learning experience.

Ha, the 2am rabbit hole is a rite of passage for anyone going off-grid! @MoorRuss LF SGP is a rebranded variant of the Felicity Solar / MPP Solar family if I recall correctly — you'll find the internals are fairly similar across several of these Chinese brands, which is actually useful because the community troubleshooting knowledge transfers over reasonably well.

Worth checking whether the 10kW unit you're looking at is a true sine wave split-phase or single-phase configuration, as some listings aren't clear on that. Also double-check the surge rating — 10kW continuous is very different from what some of these manage under load spikes.

What's your setup? Battery bank type and size would help narrow down whether it's actually a sensible fit for your needs.

@MoorRuss the 2am Chinese inverter forum spiral is basically the off-grid equivalent of a university degree — costs less but still leaves you questioning your life choices by sunrise.

What's your actual use case? Because depending on whether this is for a garden office, van, or full home backup, a 10kw unit might be overkill or perfectly sensible. I went Victron for my setup after nearly pulling the trigger on a couple of dodgy rebrands — the support network alone is worth the premium when something inevitably goes sideways at the worst possible moment (usually a Bank Holiday weekend, naturally).

Not saying avoid lesser-known brands entirely — Fogstar have surprised people before — but 10kw is serious money and serious power, so the warranty and UK support question matters a lot more at that scale.

Really familiar with this one! I've got an LF SGP 10kw sitting in my barn right now, been running it for about 14 months. Picked it up through a supplier in Shenzhen — came with absolutely atrocious documentation but the unit itself has been solid as a rock.

Worth knowing: the firmware can be a bit temperamental with certain battery comms protocols, particularly if you're running Pylontech. Had a nightmare getting CAN bus talking properly until I found a settings guide buried on a Portuguese forum of all places 😄

@MoorRuss what batteries are you planning to pair it with? That'll probably be the most important factor in deciding whether this inverter will suit your setup. Also, make sure your supplier includes the correct comms cable — mine didn't and it caused weeks of delay. Happy to share specs if helpful!

@Wendy1968 14 months is a decent run — any issues with the comms side? I've heard mixed things about the BMS integration on these. Curious whether you're running it with Pylontech or something more budget like Fogstar.

Main thing I'd flag for @MoorRuss is spares availability. With lesser-known Chinese rebrands you want to at least confirm someone in the UK stocks capacitors and driver boards, otherwise you're looking at 6-week waits from Alibaba when something pops. Victron gear costs more upfront but you'll find parts and support same week.

Not saying avoid it — just go in with eyes open on the after-sales side.
