Ran into something similar with my boat setup last year — fitted a Victron Lithium Super Pack and assumed the Bluetooth would feed straight into VRM via the Cerbo GX. Nope. Sat there scratching my head for a good while.
From what I can gather, the Super Pack's BT is essentially consumer-facing only — it's designed to let you check state of charge via the Victron Connect app on your phone, not to push data upstream into the GX ecosystem. VRM just doesn't see it as a proper data source.
The "fix" I landed on was exactly what you've described — a SmartShunt wired in as the battery monitor. Not ideal when you've already spent on a premium battery, but it does give you proper SOC tracking, historical data, and all the VRM graphs you'd want. Mine's been rock solid since.
A few things worth checking if you haven't already:
- Is your Cerbo on the latest firmware? There were some GX updates that tweaked device recognition
- Have you tried enabling "Has DC system" in the Cerbo settings — sometimes helps with overall monitoring visibility
- Double-check the Super Pack NG page on Victron's own docs, as the NG revision may have slightly different integration notes vs the older Super Pack
Would be curious whether anyone's found a way around the SmartShunt workaround — feels like it should be possible natively but Victron seem to have kept the Super Pack deliberately siloed from VRM direct comms.
