Saw this kind of job post floating around recently and it got me thinking — has anyone here actually gone down the route of hiring someone to properly integrate Node-RED with Venus OS on a complex build?
I'm in the middle of planning a fairly ambitious motorhome conversion and the monitoring side of things is starting to feel like it's getting away from me. I've got a Victron Cerbo GX as the brain, and I can poke around in Venus OS well enough to get the basics sorted, but the moment I start thinking about custom dashboards, automated relay logic, and pulling in data from non-Victron kit, I hit a wall pretty quickly.
Node-RED looks like the obvious solution but the learning curve feels steep when you're also trying to sort the actual physical build at the same time.
A few questions for the group:
- Has anyone commissioned a remote integrator to set this up for them, and was it worth the money?
- Are there decent UK-based freelancers who specialise in this kind of Victron/Node-RED work, or is it mostly continental Europe where this expertise seems to live?
- Would you recommend just cracking on and learning it yourself, or is there a point where the complexity justifies bringing someone in?
I can imagine this would be especially relevant for anyone running a larger off-grid setup — like a converted HGV or a static off-grid build with multiple battery banks, generators, and loads to manage simultaneously.
Curious whether anyone's been down this road.
