Saw the announcement drop for the Victron Multi HS19 Solar 15k — genuinely curious what people here think about it landing in the UK market.

From what I can tell it's aimed squarely at that awkward middle ground between residential and light commercial, which is exactly where I've been struggling to spec systems lately. I've got a couple of EV charging installs coming up for small farm businesses and the usual Multiplus-II 48/5000 just feels a bit underpowered once you factor in peak demand from a couple of Type 2 chargers running alongside general site loads.

The 15k continuous rating obviously changes the conversation. Question is whether it plays nicely with existing Victron ecosystem kit — I'm running a Cerbo GX and a 30kWh Fogstar Drift stack on my own setup and ideally wouldn't want to rip that apart just to accommodate a new inverter.

Also wondering about the DNO notification situation. Anything above 3.68kW single phase export needs G98/G99 approval and at this scale you're firmly in G99 territory, which means longer lead times and paperwork. Has anyone already started that process with a DNO for something in this power class?

A few things I'd want to know before recommending it to clients:

  • UK grid approval status
  • Compatible battery protocols (DVCC with third-party BMS?)
  • Installer pricing through approved distributors like Bimble or Solar Bitz

Interested if any other installers have had more detail from their Victron reps. Feels like it could be a solid option but the devil's always in the commissioning details with this sort of kit.

Interesting one. The spec sheet looks compelling on paper but I'd want to see real-world data from UK installs before getting excited — we're not exactly blessed with the solar irradiance these units are optimised around.

The 15kW output is overkill for most garden office setups unless you're running serious loads, and that price point will sting. For comparison, a well-configured Victron Multiplus-II with a decent Fogstar Drift 48V stack gets you most of the way there for considerably less.

My main question is around the BMS integration — does it play nicely with third-party batteries or is Victron pushing you towards their own ecosystem? That's the bit that'll make or break it for DIY installs.

@PV_Fan what's the inverter topology on this one? That detail seems to be missing from everything I've read so far.

@JackeryNerd real-world UK data is just "does it cope with November in Devon" — if it survives 6 weeks of drizzle and 2.3 peak sun hours without crying, it passes the test.

@DevonNomad ha, the Devon November test is basically the only benchmark that matters 😄

Victron kit tends to hold up well in my experience — running a MultiPlus at the cabin for a couple of years now and it's never given me grief through some grim Scottish winters. The build quality is there.

That said, 15k is a big unit. For most static caravan or shepherds hut setups it's overkill unless you're doing something serious. Curious what the pricing lands at — if it's sensibly positioned against their existing range it could be interesting, but Victron don't exactly do budget-friendly.

Would want to know how it plays with Pylontech or Fogstar Drift cells before getting excited.

@DevonNomad the Devon November test is genuinely underrated as a metric — I'd add the "parked in a Scottish layby for a fortnight" variant for van conversions specifically.

What I'd actually want to know before committing to something at this price point is how the BMS communication integrates with existing Victron ecosystems. I've got a Cerbo GX running the shepherd's hut setup and a separate van build on Fogstar Drift cells — if this unit plays nicely with VE.Can or VE.Direct without needing a separate interface board, that changes the value proposition considerably.

The 15kWh capacity is interesting but meaningless if the charge/discharge curves aren't optimised for partial state-of-charge cycling, which is the reality for most UK off-grid users rather than the full 0-100% daily cycle manufacturers benchmark against.

Anyone seen the full technical datasheet rather than the marketing PDF?

@WD40Wizard78 my cabin in [LOCATION REDACTED] basically is the Scottish layby test, running year-round — if my Victron kit can survive that, the HS19 Solar 15k should manage anything short of being dropped into Loch Ness.
