Been doing a fair bit of research on the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 lately as I'm considering it as a potential upgrade path, and I've got a few questions I can't quite pin down from the Victron docs alone.
My current setup is a single MultiPlus-II 48/5000 with AC-in tied to a Honda EU22i generator for backup, feeding a 15kWh Fogstar-based LiFePO4 bank. Works reliably, but I'm losing a lot of potential with no MPPT integrated into the inverter itself — running separate SmartSolar controllers alongside.
The Multi RS Solar looks attractive precisely because it consolidates the high-power MPPT (100A, so up to ~5.8kW of panels directly), but I've got some specific concerns:
- Generator compatibility — the AC-in on the Multi RS, is it as forgiving with generator waveforms as the standard MultiPlus-II? The EU22i is inverter-type so reasonably clean, but still curious whether the transfer switch behaviour differs.
- Parallel/three-phase — can you actually parallel two Multi RS units in the same way as the MultiPlus-II range? Documentation feels vague on this.
- DVCC interaction — anyone running this with a Cerbo GX and a third-party BMS? Curious whether CCL and DCL signals from the BMS are properly respected when the integrated MPPT is also pushing charge current.
If anyone has hands-on experience running one of these — particularly in a UK off-grid context where generator hours matter — I'd love to hear whether the consolidation is worth the trade-offs versus keeping separate MPPT units.
