Been wrestling with this on my static caravan setup and thought it worth raising here.
Running a single Multiplus-II 48/5000 rather than a three-phase arrangement, but the low voltage alarm behaviour is something I've spent a fair bit of time trying to get right. The issue I keep hitting is that the alarm triggers during heavy morning loads — kettle, microwave in quick succession — even when the Fogstar Drift 48V battery is actually in perfectly good health and sitting at a reasonable state of charge.
What I think is happening is that the Multiplus is responding to momentary voltage sag under load rather than genuine low battery. The cells are fine; it's just the internal resistance causing a brief dip that the inverter interprets as an alarm condition.
A few things I've adjusted in VEConfigure:
- DC input low voltage — raised the pre-alarm threshold slightly but kept the shutdown threshold conservative
- Dynamic current limiter — enabling this seemed to smooth out the worst of the transient sags
- Battery capacity setting — worth double-checking this is accurate, as it affects how the algorithm interprets voltage
Still not entirely satisfied with the result. The alarm occasionally fires in VRM even when everything looks fine on the battery monitor.
Curious whether anyone else running a similar 48V LiFePO4 setup has found a reliable threshold combination that avoids nuisance alarms without masking genuine low-voltage events. Also wondering if ESS assistant vs standalone inverter mode changes this behaviour meaningfully — I'm currently running standalone with no grid connection at the caravan site.
