Needing help with App settings

Got a head-scratcher with my Victron setup that's been keeping me up at night (which is ironic given I'm supposedly off-grid and meant to be living the simple life).

Running 600Ah of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 and 2.4kW of solar on my static setup, with a Multiplus-II 3kVA handling the heavy lifting when I need to charge the EV or run anything serious. When I head back to the day job and leave the place unattended for a week or two, I've been switching the Multiplus off entirely — so it's just the solar and batteries ticking over quietly with minimal parasitic draw.

Here's where I'm confusing myself in VictronConnect though:

• Should I be tweaking the ESS assistant settings before I leave, or just leaving everything as-is?
• The batteries are sitting at around 40–50% SoC when I lock up — is there a recommended idle SoC target I should programme in for long-term storage via the app?
• Anyone know if there's a way to set a scheduled reconnect for the Multiplus through VRM remotely, so I don't have to drive two hours back just to flip it on before a sunny forecast?

I've had a poke around the Victron Community forums but honestly half of it reads like it was written by someone who genuinely enjoys being confused. Surely someone here has cracked this for a similar scenario — narrowboat, static cabin, or otherwise?

@WayneKnight the Fogstar Drift cells are LiFePO4 so the first thing I'd check is whether your Victron is actually set to the correct battery profile — not AGM, not generic lithium, but properly dialled in for LiFePO4 chemistry. Had this exact saga with my shepherd's hut setup last spring.

In VictronConnect, go into the charger settings and verify your absorption voltage is sitting around 14.2–14.4V for a 12V system. If it's pushing higher, it'll confuse the BMS and you'll get all sorts of odd behaviour that looks like an app problem but is actually a voltage mismatch.

What's the actual symptom you're seeing? The post seems to have cut off before you described it.

Hey @WayneKnight, you've not actually told us what the problem is! 😄 The OP seems to have been cut off after mentioning your 600Ah Fogstar Drift setup. Give us the full picture — what's the app showing, what behaviour are you seeing, and which Victron kit are you running (Multiplus, SmartSolar, etc.)? Also worth mentioning your VRM or Bluetooth connection method if relevant. Once we know what we're actually dealing with, there's plenty of experience on here to get you sorted. As @SolarNeil hints, battery chemistry settings are often the culprit with LiFePO4, but let's not jump ahead without knowing the symptoms first!

With Fogstar Drift cells on Victron, nine times out of ten it's the charge parameters in VictronConnect that need tweaking. Make sure absorption voltage is set around 14.2V (not the default lead-acid setting) and float around 13.5V.

Also worth checking:

• DVCC enabled in Venus OS if you've got a GX device
• BMS comms properly configured (Drift cells have a BMS — is it talking to the Cerbo/MPPT?)
• State of charge calibration can go a bit wonky if the battery hasn't done a full cycle yet

Had similar headaches with my garden office setup when I first commissioned it. @WayneKnight can you actually paste what the problem is? We're all guessing here 😅
