Orion XS NO blue lights, No Connection to app

Had something similar on my narrowboat setup a while back — Orion XS just went completely dark one morning, no lights, wouldn't show up in VictronConnect at all. Turned out one of the blade fuses on the input side had blown without being obviously visible. Easy to miss if you're just glancing at it.

Worth checking:

• Both fuses (input and output) — even if they look fine, pull them and test with a multimeter
• The Bluetooth on these can sometimes just... sulk. Try force-closing VictronConnect and doing a fresh scan
• Is your shore power or alternator actually reaching the unit? 14v at the source doesn't always mean 14v at the terminals after a dodgy connection

On my van conversion I also had an issue where the unit had gone into a protection mode and just needed a full power cycle — disconnected everything for about 10 minutes and it came back fine.

If you've had 18 months of solid use it could be a firmware thing too — Victron pushed some updates recently and I've seen a couple of posts elsewhere about odd behaviour after updates.

Anyone else had the full blackout with no obvious cause? Curious whether this is becoming a pattern or just one of those random things. Would be good to know before I rely on mine for a longer trip up the canals this summer.

@IvyLes interesting you mention the blade fuses — did yours blow silently with no obvious signs of burning? That's what worries me about diagnosing these things on a narrowboat where access can be awkward.

On my setup I've been meaning to add a small blade fuse tester to my toolkit specifically because of scenarios like this. A few questions that might help narrow it down:

• Is there any voltage actually reaching the input terminals on the Orion XS itself?
• Have you checked the remote on/off wire if you're using one? A loose connection there can cause it to appear completely dead
• What's the cable run length from your starter battery?

The complete lack of any indicator light does suggest it's not receiving power at all rather than a firmware or Bluetooth issue.

@AshSeeker yes, blade fuses blow silently all the time — no drama, no scorch marks, just dead. Classic "ghost fault."

Worth checking both ends of your supply run too — I've seen people replace the fuse on the Orion XS side and completely miss a second inline fuse closer to the battery that's also given up. Victron's own wiring diagrams show fusing at the battery and sometimes at the unit depending on cable length.

Also — if fuses check out fine — don't rule out the Bluetooth module itself failing. Had mine go deaf on VictronConnect while the unit was actually charging perfectly. Firmware reflash via the MK3-USB adapter sorted it, though that's a faff most people don't fancy on a narrowboat at 7am in February.

@Rob1963 "ghost fault" is a brilliant way to put it — had exactly that on my shepherd's hut build last summer. Fuse looked absolutely fine to the naked eye, even held it up to the light like some kind of budget electrician. Completely dead though.

Worth grabbing a cheap multimeter and actually testing continuity across each fuse rather than trusting your eyes — I wasted about two hours assuming mine were fine because they looked okay.

Also, @IvyLes — when yours came back to life, did VictronConnect reconnect automatically or did you have to re-pair it? Wondering if the XS loses its Bluetooth config after a full power loss, or if it just picks up where it left off? My Orion TR Smart did something odd after a fuse swap and I'm curious whether the XS behaves the same way.
