Shifted my whole setup over to 48V last year and this unit's been sitting in the garage ever since. Barely powered on, no faults, original box and all the documentation included.

Specs:

  • 12V 1200VA inverter/charger
  • Switchover time under 20ms
  • Built-in AC/DC breakers
  • VE.Bus comms port for monitoring
  • Original Victron charger leads and documentation

Used it for about 6 months in my motorhome before upgrading. No damage, no dodgy connections, absolutely nothing wrong with it. Works flawlessly.

Asking £550 — that's reasonable given current retail pricing. Willing to negotiate slightly for collection.

Collection: Happy to meet within 50 miles of the Midlands, or you can arrange courier collection. Packing will be secure and insured if posting, but I'd prefer local pickup if possible to avoid the fragility headache.

This is a solid bit of kit if you're running a smaller 12V system — motorhome, shepherd's hut, emergency backup, that sort of thing. Paired perfectly with a decent MPPT and battery bank. Reliable Victron quality, which is worth something on the secondhand market.

Anyone considering this for an EV charging setup in a van should know it'll manage smaller chargers no problem, though you might want to think about your total load.

Let me know if you've got questions about the condition or specs. Can send photos if needed.

Mate, that's a proper unit just gathering dust — classic off-grid plot twist of "upgraded and forgot about the old gear." At 12/1200 you've got a solid inverter/charger for anyone still running 12V, especially van lifers and narrowboat folk who don't need the full 48V faff.

Fair warning though: even "barely used" Victron gear holds its value like a jealous dragon, so you might be pleasantly surprised on price. Just make sure you've got the serial number and proof of purchase handy for warranty transfer — keeps buyers happy and means you're not liable if it develops a mysterious fault next week.

That's a cracking bit of kit to have spare tbh. Got one running in my cabin setup and it's bulletproof for what it does — handles loads without fussing about, and the remote is genuinely useful if you're not right next to the unit.

Only thing I'd mention: the 12V limit means you're looking at fairly modest loads unless you're running minimal parasitic drain. Works brilliantly for emergency backup or a small secondary system though. Battery charging performance is solid too.

If you're shifting to 48V you've probably maxed out what you need from it anyway. Reckon someone after a dependable inverter-charger for a cabin or van would snap this up quick. The Victron warranty transfer should count in your favour as well.

Right, that's the Victron tax for you — spend a grand upgrading to 48V then realise you're now sat on a perfectly good 12V inverter that could've funded a proper battery upgrade instead.

Seriously though, @NaeClue13, you'll shift that no bother. The 12/1200 is the sweet spot for shepherd's huts and small systems — not too mental on the amp draw, bulletproof reliability. I had one running my setup for three years before I went daft with the lithium batteries. Still works mint if you want a backup honestly.

Only thing I'd mention: these hold their value precisely because nobody needs to replace them. Make sure your price reflects the condition but don't expect Victron's RRP back — secondhand kit moves when it's realistic. Reckon you'll have interest from the compact living crew at least.

Mate, if that's genuinely barely used you'll shift it quick — those things hold value like Cornish granite holds heat. The only tragedy here is you didn't flog it sooner before the "why did I buy 48V" remorse brigade all upgraded at once.

Seriously though, someone running a smaller narrowboat or caravan setup will bite your hand off for a MultiPlus that's actually been looked after. Way better than rolling the dice on eBay with one that's been through three owners and sounds like a dying badger.

What're you asking? And more importantly — did you keep the documentation? That's half the battle when people inherit dodgy Victron units.

Spot on about the resale value — Victron stuff's solid. Only thing worth flagging: check your battery bank specs before anyone bites. The 12/1200 can be a bit finicky if the batteries aren't up to snuff, especially on the charger side. Had a mate who grabbed one for his van setup and spent weeks troubleshooting what turned out to be dodgy battery cables.

That said, if it's genuinely mint and you've got the paperwork, you'll find a buyer. Loads of folk still running 12V setups for garden offices, campers, that sort of thing. Honestly think you're underpricing it slightly but @NaeClue13 will know their market better than me.

Only other thing — worth mentioning if it's had any firmware updates since it's been sitting? Just so whoever buys it knows where they stand.

The 12/1200 is genuinely one of the more versatile units Victron made for smaller 12V systems — decent sine wave output and the passive cooling means no fan noise, which matters in a shepherds hut setup like mine.

Only thing I'd add to what @CamperEwan's hinting at: if you're buying this for EV charging or high-draw applications, you'll want to verify your battery bank can actually support sustained 120A discharge. Plenty of people grab these thinking the inverter's the bottleneck when really it's the batteries that'll let you down. A decent lithium bank handles it fine, but older lead acid setups can struggle with the voltage sag under load.

Also worth confirming the DC cable spec on your end — undersized cables between battery and inverter will kill your performance faster than a dodgy alternator. The manual's pretty thorough on this, mind.

For resale value @48VQueen's spot on. I've seen these shift within days when priced reasonably. Victron hold their value because they're genuinely reliable, not because there's a cartel propping prices

Worth noting you'll want to test it under load before shipping — even units in storage can develop capacitor issues if they've been sat idle for 12+ months. Run it for a good hour with a decent draw, check the output voltage stability. Victron's generally bulletproof but worth confirming it powers on and doesn't thermal throttle. What's your asking price looking like?
