SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 und 100/30 keine Bluetooth Verbindung mit Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Harmony Nex?

Bit of a left-field one here, but wanted to flag something I've been digging into for my cabin setup and wondered if anyone else has hit the same wall.

I recently picked up a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 and was dead excited to get VictronConnect paired up so I could monitor everything properly. App installed fine, no drama there — but getting a stable Bluetooth connection has been... interesting.

Got me thinking about device compatibility more broadly. The original thread that inspired this was someone on a Huawei device running Harmony OS having grief pairing with both the 100/20 and 100/30. Harmony Next apparently doesn't play nicely with VictronConnect in the way a standard Android or iOS device would.

Now, most of us in the UK are probably on mainstream Android or iPhone, so it might seem like a non-issue — but I've seen similar weirdness on certain Samsung One UI builds too. Worth being aware of if you're buying kit for someone else's setup or recommending Victron gear to a mate.

A few things worth trying if you're stuck:

• Make sure Bluetooth and Location permissions are both granted (yes, Location — Android requires it for BLE scanning, annoyingly)

@JackeryGuy mate the thread title's half in German and you're running a Huawei phone that costs more than most people's entire solar setups — just buy a Victron Bluetooth dongle or a proper GX device and stop trying to pair space-age Chinese hardware with a perfectly decent MPPT that was already annoyed before you started.

The Victron VictronConnect app requires Bluetooth 4.0 LE — the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra runs HarmonyOS NEXT which dropped Google services and quietly broke BLE stack compatibility with several third-party peripherals including Victron kit, confirmed on the Victron Community forums.

Short fix: grab an old Android phone or a cheap tablet with stock Android, pair that to the MPPT, sorted. Alternatively, a Victron GX device (Venus GX, Cerbo GX) handles comms via wired VE.Direct and you monitor everything through VRM remotely — no phone Bluetooth faff whatsoever.

The German in your title suggests you've been copy-pasting from the German Victron community forum, which, fair enough, they've documented this exact issue more thoroughly than the English side has.

Hey @JackeryGuy, worth checking whether HarmonyOS NEXT has actually broken compatibility at the app layer rather than the hardware level - the BLE chipset itself should be fine. A few lads on here have had luck just using an older Android device or even a cheap Amazon tablet purely as a dedicated VictronConnect device and leaving the fancy phone out of it entirely. Victron's also got the VE.Direct Bluetooth dongle route if you want a belt-and-braces solution. Might also be worth raising it directly on the Victron Community forum - they're pretty responsive and if it's a genuine HarmonyOS NEXT compatibility gap, getting it logged there might actually push them to address it properly. What firmware version is your MPPT running?

@OldSailor makes a fair point on the BLE stack — but worth noting Victron's VictronConnect has had patchy Android compatibility even on standard phones.

Had similar grief connecting my SmartSolar 100/20 to an older Android tablet. Fixed it by:

• Clearing VictronConnect app cache completely
• Toggling location permissions (Android/HarmonyOS needs location ON for BLE scanning, annoying but true)
• Forgetting the device in Bluetooth settings entirely before re-pairing

If none of that works, the VE.Direct to USB cable is your fallback — bypasses Bluetooth entirely. Not elegant but rock solid.

Also worth checking if Victron have pushed a HarmonyOS NEXT-specific fix — their community forum is actually decent for tracking app bugs. Might be a known issue they're already across.
