Has anyone actually confirmed which firmware version properly supports the Pylontech BMS comms on this unit? I've seen a few threads on other forums where people have flashed various versions and still end up with the SOC reading stuck at a fixed percentage or bouncing around erratically.

I'm considering one of these for my shepherd's hut setup alongside a Pylontech US3000C bank, and the BMS integration is non-negotiable for me — I need accurate SOC data for the low-battery alarms to function correctly as an emergency backup system.

A few specific questions:

  • Is there a verified firmware version where the PYL protocol actually passes SOC through correctly, not just voltage/current?
  • Does SRNE have a UK distributor who can supply firmware directly, or is it all sourced through Chinese channels?
  • Are there any known risks flashing this unit via the RS485 port vs whatever SRNE's own tool uses?

I've read conflicting things about whether the HF4850S80-H uses the same firmware branch as the earlier HF4850U80-H, which makes finding the right file a minefield. Victron kit tends to have well-documented firmware trails — SRNE feels considerably murkier.

Anyone who's actually got this inverter-charger talking properly to Pylontech (or even Fogstar's BMS), I'd genuinely like to know what your working configuration looks like.

Ran the HF4850S80-H with a Pylontech US3000C stack for eight months and the BMS comms were genuinely cursed until I flashed V1.42 — SOC finally stopped reporting 47% forever like some kind of battery purgatory.

⚠️ Word of warning: SRNE's own "support" will send you V1.38 because that's apparently glued to their desktop somewhere in 2021.

Key things that actually worked after V1.42:

  • Pylontech listed properly in battery type menu
  • SOC tracking via RS485 actually syncing
  • Charge limits respected from BMS

Get the firmware direct from SRNE's Chinese portal rather than the English one — different files, inexplicably. @MarineAlan if you're still stuck I can dig out the exact filename from my downloads folder, pretty sure it was a ZIP with a suspiciously generic name like update_HF48.
