Got my first Victron MultiPlus 12/3000 installed last weekend in the static caravan — proper job, or so I thought.
Everything looked perfect on paper. Wiring from the Fogstar 200Ah lithium done correctly, M10 fuse holder inline, tidy connections. Switched it all on and... nothing. The little green LED that should've been cheerfully blinking at me just went dark the moment I seated the fuse. Took it out again, light came back. Very strange.
Spent a good hour convincing myself I'd somehow wired it backwards (I hadn't). Eventually rang the supplier and after a bit of back-and-forth we narrowed it down to a duff fuse — the blade contact inside was making just enough connection to complete a fault circuit without actually allowing proper current flow. Swapped it for a known-good 200A ANL fuse from my motorhome spares box and she fired up perfectly. VictronConnect showed everything healthy, inverter hummed into life.
Lesson learned: never assume a new fuse is a good fuse, especially the cheap ones that come bundled with holders from certain online marketplaces I won't name.
I'm curious whether anyone else has run into this with their first Victron installation? I suspect there might also be a configuration step I'm missing in VictronConnect around the assistant settings — the low-voltage cutoff still seems a touch aggressive for LiFePO4, so any pointers from those of you running Victron with lithium would be genuinely useful.
This is all ultimately feeding my emergency backup setup for the caravan, so getting the cutoff thresholds right before winter matters quite a lot to me.
